I love photography and always enjoy going out with a friend to shoot some photos. The other day, I met up with Stephanie to take some pictures around town, and couldn’t help but admire her outfit. It was playful and casual, which was perfect for a hangout session.

Let’s Talk Fashion

Who or what inspires your style? “I look to Tumblr a lot for inspiration.”

Where do you like to shop? “I like to shop at outlet malls, where the best deals are.”

How would you describe your sense of style? “I would describe my sense of style as ‘soft grunge’.”

Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I chose this outfit because I feel like it defines the kind of person I am: I’m edgy, but I’ve also got a fun personality!”

What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “My advice to them would be to look through magazines, like Vogue, and try to apply their favorite outfits into their daily lives.”

What are your favorite trends right now? “My favorite trend right now is the ‘hipster’ look, which wouldn’t be complete without my glasses!”

If you could raid anybody’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would definitely raid Kylie and Kendall Jenner’s closets. They have an amazing sense of style and I love their line at Pacsun.”

Elements of Steph’s Outfit

1. Glasses

I’ve been wearing contacts daily for about seven years now and absolutely despised the thought of wearing glasses. However, Steph absolutely rocks her chic Warby Parker glasses. In fact, her stylish frames have motivated me to give glasses another chance!

2. Combat Boots & Flannel Shirt

Steph embodies that “soft grunge” vibe with her flannel shirt from Savers and combat boots from Famous Footwear. I love the look of a flannel shirt tied around the waist, and Steph can also wear it like a jacket once the weather starts to get a bit chillier. This makes it a fashionable and practical pick that’s ideal for the summer-to fall-transition.

What are your thoughts on Steph’s soft grunge look?
