Las Vegas, Nev. (Aug. 4, 2015)–OK, let’s face it: There are times we just need to get out of town and relax. But, when you’re looking for that getaway, there’s got to be a golf course involved. And it can’t be just any golf course. It’s got to have flair. It’s got to be a challenge. It’s got to be jaw-dropping. It’s got to be … Wolf Creek Golf Club, a fantasy course in real life that is located in the golf destination of Mesquite, Nev., 77 miles north of Las Vegas. You can secure Wolf Creek Mesquite tee times and Mesquite golf packages via the official course website and ensure the best values. –By Bill Bowman
Wolf Creek, located an hour north of Las Vegas in Mesquite, checks off all the boxes of that must-play getaway. This 18-hole layout is unlike just about any other course you may have played. It’s a roller coaster ride disguised as a golf course. Buckle up and hang on, you’re in for an exciting time.
“It’s not like any other golf course,” said Trent Chapman, director of golf. “Every hole has its own personality.”
The course burst onto the golf scene in 2000 and has been leaving players awe-struck since Day 1. From knee-knocking elevation changes to immaculate course conditions to waterfalls and streams and amazing views, this one has all the bells and whistles. Over the years the course was chosen as the “fantasy” layout in the EA Sports Tiger Woods video golf game (people travel from all over the world to play the real thing) and has been recognized as a Top 100 course in the world by several publications. The fact is, there isn’t another course like Wolf Creek anywhere on the planet (at least Earth).
Oh, and don’t forget that challenging aspect. It’s definitely here. The par-72 layout reaches to almost 7,000 yards from the tips. There are holes where players can be aggressive, but there are also holes where caution must be used. With the elevation changes, severe doglegs and forced carries, players need to pay attention to the details. Variables such as distance, wind, hazards and elevation change all must be taken into account on a lot of shots before reaching for a club.
“Players definitely have to play from the proper set of tees (there are five sets) to enjoy the course,” Chapman said.
Overall, Wolf Creek is a thrill-ride from start to finish. But instead of a 3-4 minute ride, this one will last four hours and will provide much more entertainment and bang for your buck.
Chapman is quick to point out the course’s top holes. “The signature holes are one through 18,” he said with a laugh.
And the course is certainly being talked about–worldwide. “We’re getting more and more players coming from all over,” Chapman said. “Word of mouth is definitely the key to our success. We’ve had people say ‘My buddy came and played here and said if you’re in Vegas, you’ve got to make sure and make the drive up.’”
You can also get terrific Mesquite stay and play golf packages with the award-winning Eureka Casino Resort that is located just minutes from the course. Check out official Wolf Creek Mesquite golf packages here. The Eureka offers fine dining, live gaming, a spa, a pool and other amenities that will make your Mesquite golf vacation memorable.
The final say comes from golfer Dennis H., who recently posted on Facebook the following: “Traveled back to Mesquite this past April for our 8th annual golf trip. Each trip has been great, with our last day always ending with 36 at Wolf Creek. Never disappoints ,from sunrise to sunset…from the tee to the green to the tap! I’ve been to Pebble Beach, Bethpage, Murfield, Laurel Valley, TPC Sawgrass, Torrey Pines and Oakmont…none better than Wolf Creek!”
