Mink Meadows, MA: Private beach is a major residential benefit.

Mink Meadows Golf Club is a semi-private golf club located in Vineyard Haven and adjacent to West Chop on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, MA.
The golf course was designed in 1936 by Wayne Stiles, who employed a style similar to his more famous contemporaries Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinglast and John Van Kleek, giving golfers views of woods and Vineyard Sound along with breezes that kick in from the island’s north shore.
Sheltered by trees and setbacks discreetly off the fairways are 60 homes whose residents form the the Mink Meadows Homeowners Association which is closely allied with the golf club. Owners of property in Mink Meadows become members of the Mink Meadows Homeowners Association (MMHA) and have priority when obtaining a club membership.
Private clubs in the area include the West Chop Club (tennis/beach) and Vineyard Haven Yacht Club (sailing/tennis/beach). Membership in both clubs is dependent on sponsorship by members and membership availability.
Private Association Beach: The major benefit of membership in the MMHA is the lovely white sand beach which stretches out along the north shore of the island with long views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands.
On any day in summer you’ll see families spread out on the white sandy beach on blankets, while children dig for clams or fish from the stone jetty and sailboats parade up and down the Sound.

> Boca Woods Country Club, Boca Raton FL congratulates this year’s Division II NCAA Golf Champions, the Lynn University women’s varsity golf team and its head coach Danny Randolph.
The Fighting Knights use the 36 holes of Boca Woods C.C. as its home-match venue and conducts all drills and coaching sessions on the club’s outstanding practice complex. This annual Pro-Am and Party gives the community a chance to see the best golfers at the Landings in action in a fun-filled environment. Balsam Mountain Preserve, NC: Brisk sales this year.
> Balsam Mountain Preserve, Sylva NC, under new ownership since late 2011, is experiencing sharp increases in property sales and memberships in 2013. The community has tallied 29 real estate transactions through July 31, which represents five more than were achieved in all of 2012.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD HAPPENINGS
All the talk on-island is about President Obama’s visit. Either it’s about the traffic problems caused by his entourage or that parts of South Rd. are closed for the week, or maybe it’s about his playing golf at Farm Neck Golf Club. Summer reading is big with the First Family, so you may see them visiting Bunch of Grapes Bookstore in Vineyard Haven.
And when you’re not out trying to catch a glimpse of President Obama and his family, try the Vineyard Pops tonight at Chilmark Community Center in Chilmark (tix $35) or Grand Illumination Night tomorrow night, which features the traditional decorating of Oak Bluffs historic gingerbread cottages with illuminated paper lanterns, many of which go back generations.
