We recently had the pleasure of hosting a visit for two highly esteemed individuals; John Longworth, the Director General of the British Chamber of Commerce along with Paul Briggs, Chief Executive of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group.
John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce is unique in that he was hired directly from business rather than the Chamber network as is standard practice. His career spans over thirty years with experience in a vast range of businesses. John, originally trained as a scientist, served as an Executive Main Board Director of Asda Group Ltd and Asda Financial Services Ltd and held senior director positions at Tesco Stores Ltd and the CWS ltd. John’s public roles comprise of; member on the board of a Healthcare Trust as well as the British Retail Consortium, economic spokesman for the Confederation of British Industry, Chairman of its Distributive Trades Panel and Chairman of the CIES International Product Standards and Trade Body. His current portfolio career sees him as Chair and Founder of a venture capital-backed science and professional services business, SVA ltd; Non-Executive Director of Nichols plc, Non-Executive Director at the Co-Operative Group Food Ltd and trustee of the social enterprise P3.
