Essential Job Functions
Counsels managers on complex legal matters affecting their functional areas in order to increase employee understanding of legal processes and ensure that the company's legal position is maintained.
Conducts legal casework from inception through conclusion. Gathers complex legal information, conducts complex research, and prepares various legal documents including briefs, contracts, pleadings.
Interacts with outside counsel, other legal personnel, technical experts, jury consultants, paralegals, support staff, and business unit representatives to ensure legal standards.
Reviews legal data and advises and assists business unit representatives, managers, and less experienced attorneys on appropriate legal action to take.
Represents the company on complex legal matters and/or legal matters involving legal exposure to the company.
Qualifications
Juris doctorate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
State bar admission
Eleven or more years of legal experience in corporate environment, law firm or government agency
Experience working with one or more areas of expertise: corporate law, securities law, communications law, government contracting, employment law, intellectual property law and contract law
Experience working with legal policies and procedures
Experience working with automated legal research tool
