Seeking a talented and dedicated In-House Commercial Real Estate Staff Attorney!

Continental Properties Company, Inc. is looking for the absolute best and brightest to join our team of dedicated professionals as a Commercial Real Estate Staff Attorney at our home office in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. We are considering candidates outside of Wisconsin, and relocation assistance will be provided.

This position offers sophisticated, complex and challenging legal work in a suburban Milwaukee environment but with a nationwide focus. You will partner with Corporate Counsel to assist project teams in the facilitation of a wide variety of activities associated with multifamily, retail and hospitality real estate development transactions. You will work on aspects of transactions at each stage of development from initial letter of intent inception through purchase, financing, development, stabilization and refinancing or sale.

As a significant part of your responsibilities, you will represent Continental in the following activities:

Preparing real estate purchase and sale agreements, leases and easements on company forms. Upon proven ability, negotiating the terms of the same with outside third parties.

Coordinating real estate purchase, sale and loan closings with outside third parties. Preparing, monitoring and leading projects team through closing checklist.

Drafting closing documents and other necessary agreements as needed.

Reviewing title commitments, exception documents and surveys for conformity to Continental requirements. Preparing title objection letters and negotiating to obtain necessary coverages.

Preparing (and eventually supervising preparation of) lease abstracts for leases and critical date lists for purchase agreements and leases.

Creative problem solving to mitigate or eliminate company risk while facilitating development transactions.

Researching legal issues as directed and providing advice on legal strategy and legal obligations for Continental staff.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Juris Doctorate and admission to any state bar

One to three years of experience as a transactional real estate attorney

Document drafting experience preferred

Purchase/sale, leasing and title and survey review experience preferred

Ability to respectfully disagree and push for positions that mitigate risk while facilitating deals

Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines

Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment with other disciplines

Flexible and adaptable – unafraid of ambiguity or a challenge

Enthusiastic about working hard and learning our business; ambitious and open to the opportunity to advance into a Corporate Counsel role
