The Attorney Customer Engagement & Privacy will ensure that L Brands retail brands (Victoria's Secret, PINK, Bath & Body Works, White Barn Candle Company, Henri Bendel, and La Senza) and their parent company comply with laws governing customer-relationship-marketing, privacy, and information-security.
This Attorney must (1) assess risk, develop relationships with key stakeholders across multiple brands and functions, (2) make strategic and operational decisions, (3) collaborate on and implement compliance solutions, (4) develop assurance plans, (5) handle day-to-day advice, in real time, and (6) assist with litigation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This Attorney will:
In the category of Customer Engagement:
oWork with cross-functional leads on marketing and/or customer engagement initiatives or campaigns
oApply laws governing pricing, promotions, contests, sweepstakes, direct marketing, digital/social media, mobile and eCommerce, digital assistive capabilities for persons with disabilities, and store point-of-sale practices
oApply laws for all customer touch points and services (e.g., websites, social platforms, text messaging sign-up points, gift cards, coupons, promotional offers, etc.)
oBalance customer engagement goals with privacy rights
-In the category of Privacy:
oApply laws governing information security, collection, use, disclosure, and cross-border transfer of consumer, associate and job-candidate information
oUnderstand the technologies that create privacy and information-security challenges
oManage policies across the Enterprise
oOversee incident response programs, and manage incidents
-Work with cross-functional leads to design compliance into technologies
-Work, day-to-day, with Compliance Manager
-Manage outside counsel
-Take a long-view approach to identify emerging issues, mitigate risk, and continuously improve processes
-Assist with litigation
-Translate legal requirements into business rules that business and technology leads can comprehend and implement
-Evaluate effectiveness of compliance standards for improvement

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree with a preferred focus in business or technology
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from accredited law school
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) (preferred)
2-3 years experience in a law firm, and/or in-house counsel
Experience with one or more of the following: consumer privacy or customer-focused marketing
Proven ability to work through retail cross-channel issues
Proven ability to understand cybersecurity technologies
Strong PC skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
