Within our Intellectual Property (IP) department in Roche Diabetes Care (RDCI), we are looking for an Patent Attorney with extensive expertise in Patent law including adversarial proceedings. This role will lead a global team of Sr. IP professionals.
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Lead the global function of the Diabetes Care IP Management including the lead of highly complex and important projects and processes across the patent functions and sites.
Being responsible to elaborate IP strategies and globally align IP activities in particular IP filings, monitoring and continuous assessment of IP and project portfolios.
Support RDCI Innovation Strategy to reach our strategic goals by improving the Innovation Structure, Innovation Processes and Tools as well as our Innovation Culture .
Monitor and analyze competitors regarding their patent landscape and activities, communicate competitor analyses and consequences for the portfolio management to the Roche Diabetes Care management.
Manage litigations and third party conflicts procedure including patent-office proceedings arbitrations and negotiations with third parties, globally and advising on complex substantive and procedural legal issues arising in the course of such matters. Strategize to avoid or resolve regional, national and international disputes; coordinating with counterparts in other jurisdictions; partnering with representatives of other departments on litigations; and contributing to cross-functional or departmental projects and teams. Coordinate globally the activities across the patent function and align the activities with the IP strategies.

Minimum qualifications include:
Doctor of Jurisprudence, licensed to practice law in one or more 50 states
Licensed to practice law before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Bachelor of Science with a focus on technology, biology, chemistry, engineering or medicine
12 years of experience in IP practice, including patent preparation and prosecution, licensing, trademark practice, client counseling and IP litigation
Strategic ability, attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility
Robust influencing, facilitation, communication and presentation skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams in complex global matrix organization
Profound logical problem resolution skills, project management and change management skills
