To help keep up with this growth we are looking for outstanding Associate General Counsel to join our team.

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Counsel the AGC represents Melaleuca, Inc. with respect to all pending and potential litigation or other dispute resolution matters, including all aspects of discover and e-discovery, data gathering and case management. Associate General Counsel also represents Melaleuca, Inc. in negotiating and drafting of commercial agreements. The position requires a general background in a wide range of litigation matters, binding arbitration as well as a general background in corporate law, commercial transactions, and intellectual property.

Key expectations include:

Must be an experienced litigator capable of personally litigating every aspect of multiple ongoing cases, including but not limited to the following: personally appearing in state and federal courts, drafting briefs, responding to and drafting discovery, taking and defending depositions, handling motions practice, and reviewing and compiling documents in response to discovery.

Independently manage case load and serve as point person for legal holds, discovery/e-discovery and service of process.

Supervise paralegal(s), outside counsel and litigation consultants (including related invoice review).

Coordinate with the General Counsel on periodic reporting on litigation results, budgets, forecasts, exposure analysis and litigation strategies to the Management Team, as well as evaluating litigation strategies, expenses and reserves with the Company’s independent auditors, risk managers and business unit leaders.

Work closely with department heads and other team members to structure deals that strike the right balance between achieving business opportunities and mitigating risks. Draft and negotiate contracts to memorialize these deals.

Support non-litigation projects such as drafting company policies and serving as Legal Department’s designee on various committees.

The AGC will have a strong track record of successful outcomes in corporate litigation. You a strong leader of projects and people with an open and direct style who practices participative management, adaptability and team building; they will strive for continued personal development and growth.

In addition, the individual will have successfully influenced and worked with resources across cross functional departments including Sales, Customer Marketing, Operations, and Finance. He/she will possess over 3 years of progressive litigation experience in more challenging and fiscally responsible positions.

Professional Experience required:

JD; Member of at least one state bar and ability to gain admission to Idaho Bar

Three-Five years combined experience, primarily in commercial litigation and arbitration, with a law firm, government agency and/or in-house legal department, as well as corporate law and commercial transactions

Prior experience managing legal professionals and outside counsel and experts

Summarizes information and analysis effectively and concisely in verbal and written form

Ability to independently manage caseload and other projects

Comfortably leads internal group meetings with peers and department heads

Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
