Responsibilities

Role overview & Purpose Partner with Pearson CPMO Enabling Function and in particular the Strategic Partnerships group within the function to provide legal advice and guidance on complex technology transactions with Pearson global partners. Primary practice area will be focused on strategic technology relationships with entities ranging from start-ups to established global organizations. In addition, the role will involve providing legal support to the function’s product strategy group.

Job Tasks

Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the CPMO team on terms of global technology business arrangements including:

o Strategic partnerships, joint development agreements, reseller and distribution agreements, and strategic supplier agreements

Draft , review, assist in negotiating and structuring a wide variety of commercial agreements including:

o Technology, distribution, product development, partnership and other agreements to assist the CPMO function in achieving its strategic objectives

Identify, analyse, and help resolve complex problems and recommend and assist with the implementation of solutions.

Work in a collaborative way with colleagues in the global legal function including sharing knowledge and know-how and providing views and comments to assist with the development and maintenance of standardized legal documents, templates, approaches and processes.

Ensure knowledge of legislative and regulatory developments remains up to date and relevant to helping the business achieve its strategic objectives.

Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of business and legal competencies, including anti-competition, data privacy/protection, and IP

May supervise administrative personnel and/or paralegals.

Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.**

o Ensure that the business is aware of how to minimize legal risk in the context of maximizing commercial opportunities. o Support the business in resolving problems. o Assist in ensuring the effectiveness of the legal function and consistency of legal advice and processes globally o Communicate clearly and accurately on legal issues

Qualifications

Skills/ Experience Experience : Minimum 6 to 7 years of post-qualification experience required. Education : A law degree and must pass written bar examination or other certification (as required by specific country where the position is located). Training : Must have been trained by a reputable law firm, and 2-5 years in-house experience would be desirable.
