It is hockey’s own premier International event and there is plenty of ways to watch, read and be part of the World Cup no matter where you are located. Follow your nation of choice
The format of the tournament sees the 12 teams in each competition (men’s and women’s) divided into two pools of six teams. Teams play a round-robin format of one match against each of the other five teams in their pool with the top two nations in each pool progressing to the semi-finals. The bottom four teams in each pool will play off against the corresponding finisher in the opposite pool for classification places.

In all, the combined tournaments will feature 76 matches with 100,000 tickets already sold for the 16 day event (31st May-15th June).
In Australia, ABC will broadcast coverage of the Hockeyroos’ and Kookaburras’ World Cup campaigns while the FIH will live stream the tournament through its YouTube channel.
In total, 1735 minutes of action will be beamed into Australian households with a combination of live matches, matches on delay, extended and edited highlights, and a half hour nightly studio show hosted by Stephanie Brantz and Olympic gold medallist Grant Schubert.
The nightly highlights show on ABC 1 will bring fans the top action from each day’s play, including edited highlights of Australia’s games and the best of the rest from around the tournament. Then it’s over to ABC 2 for live coverage of one of the Australian teams in action plus, at minimum, highlights of the other Aussie team’s match.
Live matches during the pool phase will be shown live in AEST states only with those games shown on delay in SA, NT and WA.
In acknowledgement of the restrictions on fans in SA, NT and WA, the ABC has agreed not to geo-block the FIH YouTube streaming of those games it shows live in Eastern states. Online coverage will be available at www.youtube.com/fihockey. The women’s and men’s semi finals will be shown live across the country in all states with Australia’s final games, subject to their progress, also set to be beamed live across the country.
