As anticipation starts to build for next weeks GODZone adventure race in Kaikoura, New Zealand, a line up of sponsors and supporters are on board to ensure the success of the prestigious multisport event.

A record 164 elite athletes will be competing in the seven day non stop event that will traverse across the Kaikoura regions spectacular mountainous terrain. Teams will start to arrive in Kaikoura next Friday (7th March) in time for team registration and race briefings before the race start over the weekend.

GODZone Race Director Warren Bates says the level of sponsorship for this years event has ensured the delivery of a thrilling experience.

“The Kaikoura District Council are our major partners this year and their regional tourism and marketing team have provided us with a significant level of support that has been vitally important for our event logistics and planning.

The region has a lot of offer the multisport community on many different levels and we know everyone involved from the competitors through to volunteers, race management and media are going to be truly wowed.”

Other support for the unique New Zealand event has come from leading outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Kathmandu who have stepped into the role of clothing supplier.

“ We are delighted to have formed a relationship with Kathmandu who are well known for their range of outdoor gear. The competitors will receive specialist Kathmandu tops and race management team will be kitted out with tops and jackets. This is the ideal gear for the kind of rugged terrain and all weather conditions the event will be travelling through,” says Mr Bates.

Kathmandu have also supplied gear prizes for the official GODZone prize giving to be held in Kaikoura on Saturday 15th March.
Other supporters of the event include Marlborough brewing company MOA who will provide magnums of MOA Methode Pilsner and St Josephs Tripel beer at the GODZone finish line.

“ The founder of MOA Brewing Company Josh Scott is a local and a very keen multisporter himself so he was very forth coming we when approached him for some support. We usually hand out a bottle of bubbles at the end but the teams will love to get their hands on some MOA beer when they finally come across that finish line.”

Another iconic South Island product, Jimmy’s Pies from Roxburgh in Central Otago will also be given to the teams at the end of the event and are expected to go down a treat.

“ We have really enjoyed these companies joining up with the event and being part of such a unique Kiwi experience. Our volunteers are going to be eating some great dehydrated foods from Back Country Cuisine and Red Bull will be handing around  products to competitors at race registration that we hope will give them all the ‘wings’ they need before the epic journey begins.”
