could someone please explain otherkin to me because i think the troll blogs have me confused about what otherkin really is
otherkin (or fickin) basically is identifying with characters/concepts! it can help mentally ill ppl cope (with identity issues, sense of self, ect.) or just be something that makes ppl them feel good abt themselves :O
im not otherkin myself so if anyone who is sees a problem w this definition pls feel free to correct me. hope this helps!
otherkin is varied for different people. some people actively believe they are their kintypes - which is fine. some identify more loosely, etc. it can also be a spiritual belief of reincarnation n stuff.
the main thing troll blogs blow out of proportion, is that for the most part we dont believe we are oppressed!! the most common insult ive seen is “im plantkin!! dont cut grass!!” which is… not something any of us rly do. its a lot more chill.
there is a level of oppression and bigotry in anti-otherkin sentiment, but its mostly ableism, bc this is a v common thing for mentally ill people.
