Cost of Sports Cars and Convertibles at New York Auto Show

The Audi R8 Spyder convertible made its debut at the New York Auto Show, showing the automaker is a continuing force in the supercar market. Mercedes, meanwhile, showcased its new E-Class and the Mercedes-AMG E43, which should hit showrooms in early 2017.

While supercars and sports cars turn heads on the streets, they'll leave you broke at the mechanic. In a study conducted by Road & Track magazine on supercars, McLaren F1 owners can expect annual costs of $30,000, with your typical oil change costing upwards of $8,000. A single tire for the Lamborghini LM002, meanwhile, will cost you $5,000.

But if you're raring for your traditional sports car or muscle car, like the new Chevrolet Camaro hosted at this year's NY Auto Show, your costs might not be nearly as high. Costs to maintain the rival 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, which costs north of $60,000, will put you steep into debt. A single tire for the Hellcat Challenger can cost you $250 or more, while your annual costs for insurance will be around $1,600.

Other reveals from the NY Auto Show that are sure to burn a hole through your pockets include:

The $212,000 Aston Martin DB11 will also make an appearance. It boasts a 12-cylinder, 600-horsepower engine that can reach 60 mph in four seconds. Acura will showcase a race-ready NSX GT3 at the auto show, while Nissan will display its 2017 GT-R.

Cost of SUVS and CUVs at New York Auto Show

Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and cross-over vehicles (CUVs) give manufacturers profit margins that keep them above water, so it's no surprise many automakers will be sporting a "mid-cycle refresh" for these types of vehicles. A "mid-cycle refresh" implies superficial aesthetic modifications to existing car models, rather than total redesigns.

Here's a look at a few of the SUVs and CUVs debuting at the 2016 NY Auto Show:

Acura MDX 2017

Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid

Lincoln Navigator 2017

With the return of the Acura MDX, the 2017 SUV will likely come at a price similar to the 2016 model, between $42,000 and $57,000, according to NiceCarsInfo. The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid will come with a similarly high price tag. As comparison, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid currently sells for over $50,000 in Europe.

In addition to the Lincoln Navigator 2017, other cars wowing audiences at the auto show include the 2017 Buick Encore and Land Rover's line of new SUVs, like the Range Rover Sport Diesel and SVR. Toyota has a newly-designed 2017 Highlander with a V6 engine, too. Porsche is showing a new four-cylinder Macan, starting at $55,450.

Mercedez-Benz is premiering the new Mercedes-AMG GLC43 as its latest 362-horsepower SUV. MINI too is exploring the small luxury SUV trend with a new Clubman ALL4, a four-door wagon-sized car with all-wheel drive.

Battle-weary Volkswagen is striking back with its 2017 Golf Alltrack, a competitor to Subaru's Outback. The model has a standard six-speed dual-clutch transmission, but a manual transmission is promised for the near future. The Alltrack features a 6.5-inch touch screen with a proximity sensor, a rearview camera and Volkswagen's Car-Net app suite.

Hot Tech at the New York Auto Show

Sophisticated technology is lucrative for suppliers, and automakers are jumping on the smartphone bandwagon with touchscreen technology and voice recognition to make the driving experience more convenient with fewer buttons and switches.

PDDNet wrote of improvements to infotainment systems at this year's NY Auto Show, such as Chevrolet's Android Auto, which integrates music streaming and Google Maps navigation on a dashboard touchscreen that also incorporates voice command. Some new Mercedes models have knob- and switch-free dashboards, touch screens, command infotainment and navigation systems. Smartphones can be synced to the systems using a wireless charging dock.

Ford is offering an improved Sync 3 system, boasting faster performance than its former system. The Sync 3 will also feature conversational voice recognition, a smartphone-like touch screen and Siri Eyes-Free capability for Apple iPhone.

Nissan Concept Cars at the New York Auto Show

Nissan is showing what the future might bring for drivers forced to navigate crowded urban metropolises. The company is showing its future cars developed in the Nissan Future Lab, an innovation center that looks decades ahead to identify potential needs and products.

Rachel Nguyen, director of Nissan Future Lab, said, "Urbanization and the growth of megacities -- particularly in developing countries -- is the biggest challenge facing the automotive industry."

BusinessWire reported the company is demonstrating electric "micromobility" and has brought four custom Nissan New Mobility Concepts (NNMC) to the auto show.

The vehicles are sized between a small motorcycle and a full-size vehicle. As smaller vehicles, three NNMCs can fit into a single parking space, a convenience many visitors to the New York International Auto Show might wish they had at the packed venue.
