These two eBooks come from 2008 Presidential candidate Dr. Chuck Baldwin and his son Tim Baldwin, J.D. True champions of liberty, they currently make their home in Kalispell, Montana. I can’t tell you how excited I was to get a return call from Tim after inquiring if they would be willing to include Romans 13: The True Meaning of Submission and To Keep or Not to Keep: Why Christians Should Not Give Up Their Guns. I think you know by now they said yes.
This was the first “yes!” moment of recruiting resources for the bundle. While most other resources in the bundle are practical, these books speak to the heart of our God-given liberties and address current challenges to those liberties. All liberty-lovers, Christian or non-Christian, should read them!

I’m going to include a few paragraphs from the introduction of each Baldwin book. Please bear with me; these excerpts are long but really, really worth it!
Romans 13: The True Meaning of Submission by Dr. Chuck Baldwin and Tim Baldwin, J.D.
I have been in the Gospel ministry for over 35 years. During that time, I have watched, with great horror, the way Romans chapter 13 has been increasingly misinterpreted by pastors and laymen alike. What was once a beautiful and brilliant passage of Scripture providing bold instruction for the child of God regarding the proper role and duty of government, Romans chapter 13 has become a kind of ubiquitous opiate that causes Christians to revel in sheepish slavery and servitude. Without a shadow of doubt in my mind, our chief adversary, Satan, has used the misinterpretation of Romans chapter 13 to cause more Christians to surrender their God-given liberties and freedoms to all sorts of tyrants, both secular and religious.
What is even more incredible about this turn of events is the fact that the modern misinterpretation of Romans chapter 13 is really quite recent. As late as the early twentieth century, Christian leaders and laymen alike properly understood the fundamental Natural Law principles of freedom, jurisdiction, and duty. As with all Scripture, including Romans chapter 13, no Bible passage was ever intended to be taken out of the context from the totality of scriptural instruction. Using Romans chapter 13 to prove the tyrant’s claim that Christians must give absolute and total submission to civil government is tantamount to using I Timothy 5:23 to prove the wino’s claim that his submission and addiction to booze is justified and even commanded by God, or to the wife beater using Ephesians 5:22 to prove that beating his wife into submission is also justified, or even commanded by God.
Christians are plainly instructed to “Stand fast in the liberty where- with Christ hath made us free.” (Galatians 5:1) This freedom includes virtually every area of the Christian walk, whether it is familial, vocational, recreational, social, political, or governmental. Would any Christian advocating total submission to government “no matter what,” also advocate a wife’s submission to a husband “no matter what”? What about an employee’s submission to an employer “no matter what”? Or a church member’s submission to a pastor “no matter what”? Yet, the scriptural principle that governs a citizen’s submission to his civil authorities is the same principle that governs his or her submission to any other authority. Why is it only to civil authorities that Christians must give absolute and total submission?
The other part of this horrific misinterpretation of Romans chapter 13 is the subtle way in which Satan has deluded Christians into — whether wittingly or not — granting civil government the preeminent position of lordship and supremacy above a Christian’s only one true king: King Jesus. After all, is not “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” still the first and greatest commandment? If a Christian has only one true King, only one true Authority, only one true Sovereign reigning over him, how can he so casually and nonchalantly give total and unquestioned submission to any human authority? Does not all authority, including civil authority, ultimately answer to one Supreme authority: Jehovah God?
Every pastor, every Christian layman, every teacher, every civil magistrate, every student, and every judge in this country should read this treatise of Romans chapter 13, which is contained in this volume! I encourage readers to read this volume at least twice. Then, encourage everyone in your sphere of influence to also read this volume.
The proper teaching of Romans chapter 13 and related passages 9 will go far in helping us as Americans to preserve the liberties that were bequeathed to us by our brave and courageous fathers and grandfathers. The continued misinterpretation of Romans chapter 13 will prove to be a bane of freedom and insult to our Christian forebears. In this regard, [this] treatise is an invaluable resource in helping to define and understand the difference!

To Keep or Not to Keep: Why Christians Should Not Give Up Their Guns by Dr. Chuck Baldwin and Tim Baldwin, J.D.
Gun control laws are being proposed and enacted in the United States that are reducing the citizens’ right to keep and bear arms to little more than a hobby. For many, the fundamentals of self-defense seem less than a by-thought to the discussion. For others, they do not know the fundamentals of self-defense, or could not care less.
Gun opponents have been highly successful in disarming the citizenry of other nations. So the threat in America is real, not just theoretical. If something does not seriously change in the attitude of Americans, our future looks similar to those who have lost meaningful and free gun possession. Unfortunately, this kind of self- defense-rejecting philosophy is becoming prevalent in America. But only one philosophy will ultimately prevail. The philosophy that succeeds will determine between two very different futures.
But what does a constitutional right matter to a Christian who believes Scriptures command him to obey the government no matter what? And what does a constitutional right matter to a Christian who believes Scriptures command him to obey laws that remove meaningful self-defense against criminal and tyrant? Christians that believe God commands him to give up his guns where the law commands apparently need further persuasion that such a law is not only unconstitutional but also opposed to Scriptures. That is where this book becomes relevant.
For the purposes of persuasion, these authors analyze Scriptures and sound methods of interpretation to justify the conclusion that Scriptures support man’s right to keep and bear arms; and as such, Christians must not give up necessary and proportional means of self-defense.
These authors show that Scriptures confirm the right of self-defense and provide as comprehensive and digestible proof as possible. The desired result is that a Christian can confidently rely on Scriptures to support his right of self-defense. This is an important premise to understand because where there is a right of self-defense, there is a duty to preserve and protect it.
These authors believe that “trusting is doing”. One shows his faith through his work, not through his indifference. “Surrendering all to Jesus” has absolutely nothing to do with giving up the rights and means God gifted man with to provide for and protect himself. Unless you think God will provide you a living, food, and shelter when you fail or refuse to work, you should understand that protection of the innocent is a matter of action, responsibility and duty.

Daybed with Bypass: 6″ Rocket Mass Heater Plan by Ernie and Erica Wisner
My friend Jami told me about Ernie and Erica’s work! They have amazing plans for rocket mass heaters and clay ovens, and in addition to doing lots of local classes in their neck of the woods, they offer many as-built drawings online (shop here). Below the photo is an excerpt from their plan which explains why rocket mass heaters are worth checking out, building, and using!
Rocket Mass Heaters are an extraordinary type of solid-fueled heating device, combining elements of masonry heaters, clean-burning rocket stoves, traditional earthen masonry and modern refractory science. The original designers focused on creating the most earth-friendly and affordable heat possible (and on educating the public about the art and advantages of smart energy). They designed around locally-available waste products such as scrap metal; earth, clay, and sand; and ‘nuisance’ small fuels. Wood grows in most climates, but not infinitely fast. It’s important to use biofuels cleanly and efficiently. Rocket mass heaters use something like 1/4 to 1/10 the wood fuel of other typical heating methods, and put out almost no smoke of any kind.

Solar Cookery by Beth and Dan Halacy
This is a contribution from Steven Harris of Knowledge Publications. Steven is a true guru of alternative energy and has contributed this Solar Cookery eBook plus two other resources to the bundle. Though the photo looks old, don’t be fooled! The sun has been around a long time and solar cooking doesn’t change much. These authors show you how to build your own solar cooking appliances on the cheap and then share recipes for cooking complete meals in them! Below the photo is an excerpt from the book.
Some commercial solar cookers are quite expensive, but the two we show you how to build in this book are not.
