[DIY] Breastfeeding Scarf

While pinning away DIY projects on Pinterest I came across a DIY Breastfeeding Scarf Tutorial and knew that I had to make it instead of purchasing the one I had planned on buying. It was pretty simple and I knew that other mom’s out there would want to know how to do this as well to help them be more comfortable breastfeeding in public easily and conveniently.

Since this project is easy and cheap, making a few of these might be beneficial since this scarf is also good for burping, cleaning up spit-up, and general baby wiping necessities.

Also while not exactly “geeky” I think it is important for all moms to be able to make the different things that they may need or want for their babies.

Here are the needed materials:

Jersey or stretchy material measuring 60 inches long and 30 inches wide

Sewing machine

Thread (matching fabric)

Scissors

I got my material from Joann Fabrics. They always have coupons online so you are almost guaranteed to get a discount on at least one item.

Lay your fabric out on a flat surface. Fold your fabric in half so your 60 inches is now two 30 inch pieces. Note: Stretchy material tends to roll inward, so make sure your rolling edges are on the outside vs the inside.

Pin the corners together.

Sew together using your sewing machine. I suggest either using a zig-zag stitch along the edge or doing two rows of a single stitch. Once your edge is sewn, pin your hem and sew it with your desired stitch.

Flip right side out and you are done! That easy.
