This was our first time in St Petersburg as part of our trip to Russia with children. We had a packed itinerary so we knew we wanted to be somewhere really comfortable and central and we certainly got both of these requirements and more besides in the lovely Corinthia Hotel.

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg – Hotel and Location:

Situated on the main street of Nevsky Prospekt this really is the place to be for anyone visiting the city. It is so easy to visit many of the main tourist sites from here and easy to navigate the trams back at the end of a long day sightseeing!

With nearly 400 rooms the hotel is split in to the newly renovated Executive Wing and the older, but soon to be renovated itself, Business Wing. The hotel also has a small gym on the top floor with great views over the city, a cafe and main restaurant.

The hotel really focuses on art work too with amazing pieces and paintings over the main reception area to enjoy.

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg – Sleeps:

We stayed in the older Business Wing in two interconnecting rooms which was perfect for a family.

Each room had really comfortable beds -

Spacious bathrooms with separate showers as well as a bath and some lovely products -

And we also had a lounge area with comfy sofas, television and desk area. This is perfect for business travellers and it really suited us as a family too. It gave us some really good space to stretch out and relax, and also opportunities for our children to draw, read and play games. There is also extra storage space for clothes.

And an area with a desk -

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg – Food:

We had a lovely meal in the main Imperial Restaurant including delicious starters of Tuna Carpaccio with lemon and chilli, and Chilean Seabass.

We also loved the traditional Russian Mushroom ragout which was served in puff pastry with green asparagus.

The Imperial is a wonderful place to experience Russian cuisine alongside other European classics. The food is excellent and there is a vast menu to choose from.

Breakfast is also served in the same location. There is a good selection of cereals and continental style foods on offer and there is plenty here to get you set up for the day.

There are also lovely cakes and coffees in the hotel’s Café Vienna which also serves a selection of great savoury snacks.

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg – The best bits

Corinthia Hotel is a really wonderful oasis from the hustle and bustle of the Nevsky Prospekt. As soon as you step inside you feel you are in another world. There is a tranquility and calm in the Lobby which stretches right to the bedrooms. The hotel is very quiet throughout and you’re sure of a good night as a result.

For a small extra charge you can also access the hotel’s business lounge, where you can enjoy snacks and drinks throughout the day, have a quiet breakfast or some hot food later in the afternoon. The lounge is sumptuous with plenty of places to sit and relax and newspapers and magazines to read.

The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring St Petersburg. It was really good to be able to walk out of the hotel and wander around the local streets and into the more touristy areas. There are plenty of trams running from the hotel down to the main sights which are just a five-minute ride away.

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg - Worth bearing in mind

The absence of a kettle in the room came as a bit of a shock and we were surprised to find that these were also not available to borrow at the hotel. Their best offer was hot water which came at a cost. We resorted to visiting the Business Lounge for hot drinks as they were available to us, but it was a bit of an inconvenience.

Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg – Child Friendly

The Corinthia was a great hotel for us as a whole family and we loved the space available to us in the business suite rooms. There was also plenty of good food for children available at breakfast and at dinner.

The hotel is really well located for families to explore the city – it’s easy to explore the city on foot from here without everyone getting too exhausted.

It’s a great hotel for a trip to this gorgeous city.
