As 2016 comes to an end, we want to express our gratitude to our amazing partners. They are the heart and soul of who Global Moms Challenge is. Each one works so hard every single day of the year to improve the lives of women and children around the world.
Here’s a short update on what a few of them have been doing to make the world a better place, but it’s really just the tip of the iceberg as they are all moving mountains. You can see more of what our other partners are working on in our gift guides!
1000 Days
In order to illuminate the challenge of malnutrition in the United States and galvanize a movement to ensure that every child has a healthy start to life, 1,000 Days – with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation – recently launched a first-of-its-kind report on the nutritional health of America’s mothers, babies and toddlers. Brac
Brac is the world’s largest development organization, dedicated to empowering people living in poverty. They operate across 11 countries, touching the lives of 1 in every 55 people. In the past year alone, their reach has crossed many borders, assisting women and children around the world, including distributing relief among the victims of a fire that ravaged the Sattala slum at Mohakhali in the Dhaka. They also reiterated their commitment to investing in girls’ empowerment and working with the Government of Bangladesh to end child marriage. To donate to their effort head here.
Every Mother Counts
Every Mother Counts is working to create a world in which every woman, child and adolescent in every setting realizes their rights to physical and mental health and well-being, has social and economic opportunities, and is able to participate fully in shaping prosperous and sustainable societies by 2030. They created a Global Strategy for the health and wellbeing of every woman, child and adolescent. Building on ongoing efforts and existing structures, it will guide countries as they develop and refine their plans for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health based on country-identified needs and priorities. Helen Keller International
The mission of Helen Keller International is to save and improve the sight and lives of the world’s vulnerable by combatting the causes and consequences of blindness, poor health and malnutrition.Last year alone, HKI’s programs provided 1.25 million families in Africa and Asia with the tools and training they need to grow more nutritious foods. International Medical Corps
International Medical Corps is on the ground running when disaster strikes, saving lives. Their Emergency Response Team was in southwestern Haiti, providing emergency relief and medical care including cholera treatment and prevention in some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Matthew. Matthew was a major Category 4 storm that hit the island on October 4. 1.4 million people, including nearly 600,000 children, need humanitarian assistance. Donate to IMC today.
March of Dimes
March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. For more than 75 years, moms and babies have benefited from March of Dimes research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs. In local communities across the country, they’re helping moms take charge of their health, and supporting families when something goes wrong. The March of Dimes also acts globally: sharing best practices in perinatal health and helping improve birth outcomes where the needs are the most urgent. Donate today at this link.

Mercy Corps is currently addressing the needs of those most impacted by conflict and war, including displaced Iraqi civilians, refugees from Syria and Iraqi host communities. Shot@Life educates, connects and empowers Americans to champion vaccines as one of the most cost-effective ways to save the lives of children in developing countries. By investing in people, they’re investing in long term change. In turn, White Ribbon Alliance members then build powerful coalitions of organizations and thousands of volunteers to make those changes. Their work has successfully persuaded governments to increase the number of midwives, the type and quality of health services and increased the number of women accessing services. Women Deliver
Climate change and environmental degradation are some of the greatest threats facing humanity today. Already, 26 million people have been displaced by its effects: rising sea levels, extreme weather patterns, and desertification of valuable farmland. This month, Women Deliver is highlighting solutions to climate change that not only help girls and women, but center them as we explore the theme of Investing in Women to Tackle Climate Change and Conserve the Environment. Join them as they shift the narrative, from girls and women as victims of climate change to those who are our best bet to end it. Support their work by donating today.
