2013-09-11

“Behind every successful man, there is always a dependable woman” seems to be the cliché that has been in use from time immemorial. The powerful women behind the governors in Nigeria have been playing various roles, not only in the lives of their families but to the state and the nation in general. In this special publication, Global Excellence’s Kunle Rasheed tries to x-ray the amazing lifestyles of our darling first ladies that are not open to many people.

OBIOMA IMOKE

Call Mrs. OBIOMA IMOKE, a sophisticated lady or rather a woman of flair and you are still rooted on the same Ibo lady who married Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross Rivers State. Going by her carriage and speech pattern, Obioma can be described as intelligent, motherly, poised, smart and flamboyant. Her style is unique to her person. That is why she can rock dreadlocks when other people in government will shy away from it. She is well polished that you can never fault her impeccable English. But what may come as a surprise to some people who don’t know her is that as western as she sounds and appears, she loves her Ankara fabrics; most times she loves to experiment with many designs of the African print. Many designers have made a fortune sewing her clothes. Her glowing skin is as a result of nature and the Clear Essence cream she rubs on it daily. Her favourite perfume has always been the French collection and she doesn’t joke with it.  Madam Obioma that means good heart in Igbo language is a flashy dresser that loves travelling around the world with her husband beside her. She is a mother of four and has pleasantly surprised many with the dramatic loss of her weight. She now looks fitter and trimmer than ever as against her massive frame in the past. Her dad is the first anesthesiologist in Nigeria.

OLUKEMI MIMIKO

Mrs. OLUKEMI MIMIKO is the pillar of strength of Ondo governor Olusegun Mimiko popularly known as Iroko. She is said to have a great influence on the husband. A reason the husband converted to Christianity from his previous Islam belief. Olukemi, is a very religious lady and this influenced the way she dresses. Her style can simply be tagged as modest.  She loves to patronize what belongs to us as a people, hence the reason she wears lots of native attires. If there is anything that gives her joy, it is cooking for her family. She enjoys cooking so much that she has the credit of attracting her husband’s friends to the house just to taste her food. Her jewelries too also belong to the modest lane. As a staunch Redeemer (she worships at Pastor Adeboye’s Redeemed Church) she believes her jewelries should be moderate and as such, she rarely wears them except her mood dictates that to her. Those who know her claim she keeps fit by playing Lawn Tennis; a game she had loved right from her growing up days. Her music is said to be traditional and inspirational especially gospel songs. But one musician who seems to have won her heart is Shola Allyson; Her Excellency so much loves this musician that she plays her music every day in her spare time. She studied French at the university.

BISI FAYEMI

Erelu BISI ADELEYE-FAYEMI would have loved to be like every other free lady in the streets, doing what she pleases her at any time but her office wouldn’t allow the free spirit in her. Highly polished lady who once said she would have loved to stop the governor’s convoy to buy roasted corn on the road. She is articulate and many would attest to the fact that she is highly cerebral. If she is sleeping, those who know her say she must have her glasses on; a thing that has become her trade mark.  A source once hinted that the recommended glasses she uses cost a fortune; she was said to have bought it even before the husband claimed his earlier lost mandate. She loves food; and as a typical Yoruba girl, she loves her pounded yam and egusi soup. Till date, she still rocks her jeans and T-shirt and other western wears that bring out her beautiful figure.  A deeper search into her life shows that she has cultivated a far-sighted career, in aspiration and in reality, as to what niche she must carve for herself as an educated young woman in a male-dominated social culture. She once confessed again that being the wife of a governor has made her stop thinking like she would have loved to. She is one lady who loves to research into intellectual works; though she still does but her scope is limited to governance. What will strike you first on meeting Erelu is a combination of magnetism, charisma, warmth in the midst of disarming humility, down-to-earth and alluring simplicity.

Erelu Bisi  Adeleye-Fayemi was born in England, Liverpool, nearly a Golden years ago. She went to school in Nigeria, Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School and Methodist High School, Lagos and went to University of Ife for her undergraduate and graduate studies, emerging with a Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees in History. She went back to the United Kingdom to earn another Masters Degree from the University of Middlesex in Gender and Society.

SHEILA ROLI UDUAGHAN

Deaconess SHEILA ROLI UDUAGHAN still has the credit of being tagged the homely woman any man would want to keep as a wife for the rest of his life. She has never allowed the privileged office of the governor gets to her head. She is still the girl-next-door-lady who loathes lording herself over people because she is the governor’s wife. Till date, she takes care of the home front; she doesn’t allow the cook in the government house to make food for her husband. She does that all by herself. She cleans her bedroom without waiting for the aides that abound to get in between. Many say she likes doing these chores because she is a restless woman who does not like dirty surroundings.  Because she is highly religious, she doesn’t like unhealthy acquisition that has been the hallmark of most politicians in Nigeria; that is why you can never see her name to any property except that of her husband. Roli Uduaghan loves to be simple with her fashion; she doesn’t crave for Brazilian hair or Peruvian hair yet she looks so good to the eyes that you’ll wonder if she’s still in her 30s. She is said to be the back bone of Governor Uduaghan.

YEMISI DOOSHIMA SUSWAM

Architect (Mrs.) YEMISI DOOSHIMA SUSWAM is the First Lady of Benue State. She is believed to be one of the most modish ladies on the Nigerian social scene. She loves good things of life and she believes that if you are blessed by the most high, there is no reason you shouldn’t flaunt it in glorifying what He has done in your life. The up-to-the-minute lady married Governor Gabriel Suswam in 1998. The fact that she studied architecture in the

university has also influenced greatly her fashion sense; she loves experimenting with her collections; those who know her well say she has never disappointed in that area. While growing up as a kid, her parents had wanted her to be a doctor because of her brilliance but the sight of blood is one thing she cannot stand, hence she dropped it like a hot plate out of the oven. The phobia has been living with her since then. Her friends say her mood determines what she wants to wears and if there is anything she enjoys, it is complimentary remarks about her dress sense. Yemisi Suswan is said to be madly in love with perfumes. In her collection alone, she has many and because she doesn’t like people identifying her scents, she regularly makes cocktail of it.

OLUFUNSHO AMOSUN

Strikingly beautiful  OLUFUNSHO AMOSUN is the stunning wife of the governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. She likes a simple lifestyle despite the fact that her looks gives her out as someone who loves to party hard. Her simplicity can also be taken from her decision to stick to being simply the wife of the governor instead of the craze for the first lady title that is peculiar to most governors’ wives in Nigeria. A gorgeous lady with a sound mind; this has been her main stay with the number one citizen of the rocky state. Olufunsho could possibly emerge as the most beautiful first lady in Nigeria because she is richly blessed with an attractive face and a pleasantly lovely body that has been a reverence point among many in her league. Though she’s driving towards the 50 mark she could still pass for a younger lady with full of life. Olufunsho made it clear that she is not interested in the First lady title, but that is not the same with her love for the good things of life. She is a fashionista of note; a thing that has been with her since her growing up days. She likes every detail concerning her looks before she steps out into the public. Those who know her claim she is very friendly with  her mirror because she always makes sure she gets the perfect mark from her reflection before she dare steps out. She is also said to be a lover of sport and you will be so amazed on what she knows in the sporting world. Whenever she travels out of the country she makes sure she does her shopping. One thing you can’t take away from her is that she has good taste for good things. That is why you can’t catch her any time without a top label on her.  Funsho was born in London, she  had her secondary school education in Ibadan and her university  education was at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile–Ife, Osun State.

Margaret Obi

Anambra governor Peter Obi married Margaret Brownson Usen in 1992 after which they had their first child, Gabriella Nwamaka Frances Obi; two years later, they had their first son, Gregory Peter Oseloka Obi. The governor cannot be any less grateful to God for the wonderful gift of a wife who radiates not only beauty but also humility. Not minding her uncommon cerebral power, she has proved both unassuming and resilient in the face of challenges. Her accessibility to people irrespective of class or calling is accentuated further by her deep conviction that people should be their brother’s keeper. In fact, her kindness stands her out as rare. She loves the good things of life. Having lived most of her life abroad, she tries as much as possible to live the typical African lady but those who know say as hard as she tries, that western part of her still rears its unwanted head. Her style could be likened to any young lady who loves the good things of life. She combines her wears in a way that stands her out in the public. Aside this, because of the beauty she radiates, anything she wears sits well on her. One thing you can’t take away from away from her is her love for perfume. She is said to be so crazy about perfume that she can empty a vault to buy her desired perfume.

Ekaette Unoma Akpabio

When her Excellency Chief (Mrs.) Ekaette Unoma Akpabio celebrated her 42nd birthday on June 9, 2013, it was a symbol of what she represents as a chic who loves good life. The party was said to be private, however, few friends that were in attendance submitted that nothing was spared by the governor in showing appreciation to the wife for being his pillar of strength. The ‘clandestine’ party held at the only 7-star hotel in the world- Burj-al-Arab (Tower of the Arabs) Hotel, the 4th tallest hotel in the world and also reputed to be the most luxurious hotel in the world. Those who knew Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, while she was in Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State, where she obtained a degree in Education Accounting, they say she loves to dress simple.  More over because she is a devout Catholic and very devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. These days, she can still be described as a moderate dresser but it’s not the same with her undying love for fashion accessories. She has collection of jewelries that could start a good business for huge jewelry store that wants to start big. Her collections include David Yurman and  Suzanne Syz who are known to be one of the very best in the world. They are equally very expensive brands. Ebony black beauty who makes sure she complements it with good body cream that suits her delicate skin.

She has four children, three girls and a boy.

 Talatu Jang

If you are one of the people that expect governors’ wives to gladly hang the tag of being a celebrity on their head based on their outgoing nature, then you are likely to get it wrong with the wife of the Plateau State governor, Mrs Talatu Jang. The lady who trained as a nurse does not like the idea of junketing about all in the name of being a society lady. Mrs Jang, a Jaba by tribe from Kaduna State, is more on the conservative side and she rarely shows her face in the public except if it’s very necessary.

Mrs Jang may not enjoy the public glare much but this is not the same in her home-front; she is said to be very influential at her home so much that the husband seeks approval from her to get things done. Those who gave us this hint say that the husband consults her because she is blessed with native intelligence that has always worked for the couple.

Her lifestyle can be called simple. She loves gold but not the loud type. Her wardrobe contains many styles and types of clothes but we learnt she is more comfortable in the native attires.

Talatu doesn’t eat much, she is a light eater and every morning when she wakes up you are bound to find a cup of tea by her bedside. If she doesn’t like showing off in Nigeria, she however likes showing her face at occasions outside Nigeria.

Judith Amaechi

Dame Judith Amaechi is the wife of Governor Rotimi Amaechi. She was born on 24 December 1970. She attended Federal Government Girls’ College, Abuloma for her secondary education. She then attended Rivers State University of Science and Technology, where she graduated as an Urban and Regional Planning Professional. Just like the husband who does not attach much importance to the office of being a governor because to him it’s transient, the wife also shares the same view and this affects her outlook to life generally. She is very religious and she is believed to be a prayer warrior that has been a pillar of vigour to the governor. Her style is said not to be loud but that notwithstanding she has eyes for quality. She drinks fruit wine and water. Her favourite food is the Italian Pizza and she doesn’t joke with it. If she doesn’t attach much importance to power another thing that takes a chunk of her income is a pair of shoes. She collects shoes in a way that could make Philippine’s Imelda Marcus green with envy. She does not have a favourite; we were told; any designer that has good shoes will become her friend because she’ll acquire it. Aside this her love, every other fashion accessory does not have influence on her like that of her shoes.

Florence Ajimobi

Mrs. Florence Ajimobi is married to His Excellency, Senator Abiola Isiaka Ajimobi, the Executive Governor of Oyo State. To the beautiful First Lady of Oyo Sate, her emergence as the number one woman is an added advantage to continue on the charity work she embarked on as the president of The Lions Club back in 1996. Though quiet and reserved by nature, The First Lady has a pleasurable and companionable side to her disposition. A woman of substance who loves enjoying herself to the tilt. Those who knew her when she was in school informed us that she partied a lot and that’s the reason her face was so prominent in the social firmament. Though, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi is a devout Christian, that has not stopped her from living her blessed life of opulence. She can spend any money to get her loved possession; her favourite perfume is said to be Channel and another old French designer  Yves Saint Laurent. Just like her perfume,  her glowing skin has the credit of nature being a half cast and her special body cream also from the stable of Channel. The cream, we were told is Precision Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream. No one could really tell what her link is with the French but inside sources divulge that her favourite fashion designer also has a French blood with the trade name La Femme. Till date, she still rocks her jeans and T-shirt because it has always been a part of her. Music for her is simply R&B. She is a great fan of the late Marvin Gaye. She’s also said to be in love with Yinka Aiyefele so much that she listens to him every time.

Born in the year 1959 to the renowned Hajaig family of Lebanon, Mrs Ajimobi grew up in a loving but strict home where discipline and strong moral values were inculcated into her by her parents. She started her educational sojourn at the Bodija International School, Ibadan before proceeding to Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ibadan. Her Excellency’s tertiary education was at the Polytechnic Ibadan where she studied Secretarial Studies and Management.

Armed with a determination to succeed, Mrs Florence Ajimobi started her career at Femi Johnson and Co, a leading Insurance Brokerage Firm. She went on to work at Insight Communications and RT Briscoe, before taking the brave decision to leave the safety of paid employment to embark on her own retail business. Unfazed by the difficulties and insecurities of the business world, The First Lady’s entrepreneurial drive, passion and dedication, have seen the business grow steadily over the years. Today, the business is a very successful venture, boosting a robust and impressive balance sheet.

NYAKOs

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State(rtd Vice Admiral) is quite different with his style concerning the office of the first lady; he has in his harem four wives who are well lettered; the first is Justice BINTA NYAKO who has a doctorate degree; Hajia Zainab Nyako, Dr. Halima Nyako can also boast of doctorate degrees. The last is Hajiya Asmua Nana Nyako. Because they are all prominent, there was no way the governor could push one aside for the other, so somehow made the four women the first ladies of the state; they all use the same  letter headed paper of the Adamawa State office of the First Lady and their official cars carried the plate number ADGMH 1. In order not to have clash of interest, the governor directed that Justice Binta Nyako should be first lady in-charge of Abuja Affairs; Dr. Halima Nyako should be the first lady supervising the health sector while Hajia Zainab Nyako should be the first lady in-charge of Political Affairs and Mobilization. Asamau Nana Nyako should be the first lady in-charge of the home front.

Justice Binta Nyako is a combination of brain and beauty; she rarely makes up and because of her training of being a justice, she is not loud in any way with her style of dressing. Most times, she prefers to be in English attires but sometimes she rocks the African attires. Hajia Zanaib Nyako on the other hand likes her Khaftan more than anything. She likes the Indian Sari but with a little bit of touch that is totally different from the way the Indians wear it. Because of her round figure, she likes body hugging Jalabia that accentuates her figure. She uses glasses like Justice Binta but one other thing you can’t take away from her is her love for banles. Most times, she loves it raw gold.  Both Hajia Zainab Nyako and Nana Nyako have peculiar styles similar to that of the two aforementioned wives.

Abimbola Fashola

Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola is the beautiful wife of action governor of Lagos State, Barrister Babatunde Rahi Fashola. A mother who treasures motherhood and being a wife above other achievements in life, we gathered has a peculiar style. Aside being religious, she abhors indecent dressing so much that she almost makes her husband pass a law to curb the excesses of ladies wearing clothes that expose their God-given assets. As an example of ways women and ladies should dress, she makes sure she stays away from body revealing outfits. Though, this does not take out the stylish part of her dress sense. She has wonderful designers in Nigeria that does most of her clothes and one of them is ageless Abbah Folawiyo of the Labanella fame. Dame Abimbola Fashola is not ostentatious in her ways; she’ll not buy a fashion item simply because of the price tag or the label attached to it, yet those who know her claim that whenever she settles for anything, it must radiate eminence. Music for Dame comes with different reasons; most of the time she likes to listen to gospel music, but this has not stopped her love for Chief Ebenezer Obey’s music or that of KSA. She is said to love K1 also. According to an inside source, Dame Fashola also listens to Nigeria hip hop artistes who seem to have taken over the country’s music scene. Another thing that the lady of substance has going for her is that she is regarded as a counselor; most of her friends seek her vast knowledge on life and marital issues and she has never failed in this aspect.

Born on 6th April, 1965 into the Ojo I’badan family of Ibadan, Oyo State. She is a distinguished alumnus of the Lagoon Secretarial College, Lagos.

Before now, she worked at the British Council for 19 years at various positions before she resigned her appointment in 2006, to support her husband.

Mercy Odochi Orji

Those who know Chief (Mrs). MERCY ODOCHI ORJI, the pretty wife of Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji say she has a simple lifestyle. She is one lady who doesn’t like loud make up. Her favourite colour is said to be red and this reflects a lot in her clothing. Though she is blessed with five kids, this is not so visible in her frame. Mrs Orji does not like loud fashion accessories; her silver necklace is all she likes and she likes it very thin unlike most women who love to flaunt their heavy collections. She also loves to wear something free. And most of the time, she likes the African ankara fabrics which she has in large quantity. If there is anything she can’t be caught dead in, then it is short skirts or anything that will expose her body. This, we were told is because of her strict religious belief.

YUGUDAs

Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State used to parade four wives not until he had a big squabble with the third wife by the name Mariya. The first wife is Aishat and people do not see her regularly unless when the event is very necessary. She is the pillar that holds the home of the former Aviation Minister turned governor. The fourth wife is NAFISAT, daughter of the late President Yar’Adua. Nafisat married him at the age of 21 in Katsina in 2009. According to the governor and his bride, courtship started in 2008 when Yuguda paid a visit to the Aso Villa to see President Yar’Adua for an official assignment. The late president’s daughter seems to be the most visible amongst the wives. She can be classed as a very trendy lady; she is a lady who would have loved to rock her jeans with a good shirt but she takes a lot of caution because of her position as governor’s wife and faith. However, we were told that she still does this only when in the comfort of her home. When on assignment outside the government house, she covers herself well with native attires that she buys from Morocco and Dubai. Also, she treasures her makeup kits that is said to be from the best designers in the world. Till date, one of the popular designers in Lagos takes care of her wardrobe if she is not buying a finished product abroad. She suits the word trendy in all ways.

The second wife is a Yoruba woman from Abeokuta, Ogun State. Hajia ABIODUN HAUWA ISA YUGUDA is also very fashionable. She loves loud colours that can announce her arrival even when she has not been sighted. She doesn’t take any drink except water. To her, the best way to stay healthy is to drink a lot of water. She also loves her fruits and vegetables. These, she claims is her beauty secret that still makes her glow despite advancing in age.   She is also said to be a freak for exercises to keep in shape.

Racheal Dickson

Her Excellency, Mrs. Rachael Dickson, the dark-complexioned plus-sized wife of Governor Seriake Dickson of  Bayelsa State  has a style that is peculiar to her belief; as a staunch Christian, she opts for a low profile lifestyle. She hardly dresses elaborately except on special occasions when she has to show the world that her fashion sense is as intact as her husband grip on power in that oil rich state. If there is any fashion accessory she loves to adorn all the time, it is her beads, though she loves jewelries too but her love for beads is unquantifiable.  When she celebrated her 40th birthday recently, it was a low key event that says a lot about her simple disposition to life. The Birthday Thanksgiving Service held at King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa. She recently confessed that it was her husband that saw her through her education when the parents couldn’t afford more than secondary education. Today, she is doctorate degree holder. Because of her humble background, she has a strong passion for helping the less privileged. The things of life to her are nothing but vanity, the only thing that brings joy to her is to see smile on the faces of the needy.

 NANA SHETTIMA

HAJIYA NANA SHETTIMA, the First Lady of Borno State is quite different from many of the first ladies in Nigeria. Unlike most who love to nurse a pet project immediately they assume office, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima said she will never allow the fortunes associated with her position to weaken her conscience. Because of this, Nana said she does not have interest in having a pet project that would fizzle out after she left office and she has kept up this decision till date. An amiable personality who has endeared herself to hundreds of women that have become widows as a result of the precarious security situation in the state, has maintained a dignified presence even in the heat of war that’s ravaging the state.

What many say about the lady that appears unbelievable is the fact that she doesn’t hide whenever she’s visiting her farm. She opened a large farm along Damaturu Road and another one along Biu Road. Her style can be tagged as peculiar; she is a lover of hijab and most of her clothes are traditional. On few occasions, she has been spotted looking western but that’s only when she is out of the country. Her gold teeth are said to be her best jewelry collection; not only because it’s anything near expensive but because of the religious significance as a sign of hajj pilgrim. Born in the early 1970s, Nana Shettima holds a diploma in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Art degree in English Language from University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). “

Elechi took a break from school to work at Nigeria Construction and Furniture Company from 1973-1975. Finally, she attended Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) from 1993-2000 earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. After obtaining her degree, she continued to work until her marriage. She grew up in Katsina State and the northern influence is sometimes reflected in her dressings; she likes dressing in shawl and Indian Sari like clothes. Her Excellency wears traditional clothes, but she loves jewelry. She buys gold, and she doesn’t joke with it.

Interestingly, she hates politics but is in love with gold. Those who know her say that her gold collection could make Kate Middleton grunt with envy.

A graduate of Marketing from Abia State University, Uturu, Clara, 32, was born in Isiochi, Abia State, but grew up in Katsina State. Apparently, her northern Nigeria background must have informed her rather reserved nature and dressing style.

“She is a very pretty, elegant lady, but not ostentatious in any way,” said a  confidant of hers.

Adama Dankwambo

Hajiya Adama Dankwambo: The wives of some governors in the northern part of the country are not given the opportunity to function as First Ladies. Mostly in polygamous settings, they function as house wives who are spared the rigours of political and social lives so they can take care of their husbands, children and the home front.

Hajiya Adama Dankwambo is one of those who are not only seen but heard. As the wife of the Governor, she has proved that she is not only a mother to her children but a mother to the entire state. Blessed with a beautiful face and a flawless skin that radiates with a glow, she is calm but very calculated. Those who know her claim she is outspoken; a reason the husband is always pushing her out in the public. Mrs. NNEOMA NKECHI ROCHAS OKOROCHA is the wife of Imo State governor; a mother of  six biological children -three girls and three boys -and almost 5,000 adopted children. All over the south eastern states.‘

She was said to have met Okorocha when he had nothing and because she was good natured she stuck with her husband until hard work paid off and the effort was also crowned with the governorship seat of his state. Nneoma is fashionable because the husband before he became the governor made sure that whatever money can buy, his wife deserves it. This has been their way until Rochas became the governor of Imo State. She likes the ‘owanbe” parties simply because with her husband she has seen more of that and it has become a norm to her. Surprisingly, those who know her claim she loves the local palm wine ahead of other drinks. The reason for this preference is still clouded in secrecy. An African lady who loves to do one thousand braids or even rolls her hair without necessarily spending outrageous money to look good.

FATIMA SHEMA

Hajia (Dr.) FATIMA SHEMA is richly endowed and she doesn’t hide this fact. Though, many attest to the fact that she is temperamental but this has in no way affect her relationship with people. Many people in the state see her as their mother because of her humanitarian gestures. Dr. Halima is beautiful and she dresses well to compliment the beauty. Those who know her say she is equally intelligent and she doesn’t hide her love for the good things of life.  Her favourite way of relaxation is to sit on front of the Television; she is so addicted to Tv that she hardly misses her favourite programme. Aside the television addiction, she loves having kids around her. She can do anything to make sure kids live well irrespective of whom they belong to.

While Hajia Halima who is keen on keeping fit, engages in some exercises to keep fit and most of the time she does this by playing golf. Aside this, she also makes sure that she cooks her husband’s food because according to her, the husband is very careful about what she eats. On the other hand, beautiful  Farida who is always on the forefront is an astute business woman, who made her mark in the travel industry through her Globenet Travels and Tours Agency; a business Mrs Wada has taken beyond the scope and shores of Nigeria. They have both been doing well in complementing the governor in the smooth running of the state.

 Omolewa Ahmed

Mrs Omolewa Ahmed hails from Ibadan. She is the First Lady of Kwara State and founder of Life Empowered Anchors Hope (LEAH) Charity Foundation through which she has impacted positively on the lives of children and women in the state of harmony. She appears in simple outfits but she cultivates social finesse and always appears in nice. She appears more in native attires that sit well on her and showcases her beauty. An epitome of simplicity who would not allow the carriage of her office as First Lady intoxicates her. She has almost a permanent smiling face.

Wamakkos

Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has two wives and they are both full-time housewives. The two women actually do not parade themselves as first ladies. What first ladies do in other states is handled by the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Sokoto State.

The rave of the moment, Hajia Hauwa Danbaba Suntai is the wife of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State. Hauwa, a Shuwa Arab from Borno State, is the reliable storehouse of the Taraba governor who was involved in an air crash in October last year in Yola, Adamawa State, when he was reported to be flying himself in a private jet. Hauwa has been standing by her husband throughout his ordeal, practically demonstrating that what he needed mostly to recover is, perhaps, the affection and emotional therapy of a dear one. During this same time, Hauwa gave birth to twins in USA where her husband was receiving treatment after he was transferred from a German hospital where he was initially admitted.

Beautiful lady no doubt; the issue of her husband has slowed her down a bit.

Hadiza Abdul’azeez Yari

Hajiya Hadiza Abdul’azeez Yari is the  lovely wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’azeez Yari Abubakar.

Ever since Hadiza’s husband, Governor Yari came into power as Zamfara State Governor, Hadiza’s confidence has grown in leaps and bounds, strong with the zeal to give a helping hand to her husband to achieve desired goals in developing the state.
