One of the largest military installations in the United States called White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) is located in southern New Mexico and its main purpose is to support the missile development and to test programs for the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
This military installation was created during World War II and over the years most of the missile systems in the U.S. arsenal were tested at WSMR (V-2, Nike, Viking, Corporal, Lance and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems).
The most impressive part of the museum is the missile park that includes more than 60 different rockets used in combat from WWII to the Gulf War. These rockets are placed outside the museum building, most of them pointing towards the sky as if ready to blast off.
