Smartphone manufacturers who started off their businesses with value-for-money Android smartphones are now venturing into newer segments to expand their product portfolio and target audience. One such example that we saw a few weeks ago was that of Micromax who revealed their all new air-conditioner – that’s how far they are venturing out.

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi too has been busy introducing a long list of products over the past couple of years. Apart from the value-for-money smartphones, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer also offers tablets, powerbanks, earphones, headphones, bluetooth speakers, fitness bands, action camera, USB LED light, USB fan, bicycle… the list just does not stop. But the folks sitting in the headquarters in Beijing took their game to an all new level by revealing an all new laptop – the Mi Notebook Air. What’s also interesting is the fact that Xiaomi has introduced this new laptop as an Apple Macbook Air rival. Before we get a look of what’s under the hood of the new Mi Notebook Air, check out this tweet made by Xiaomi:

The new Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is available in two options – 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch models. The 13.3-inch version packs higher configuration and comes equipped with an 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 sixth-generation dual core processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, a 256GB PCle SSD, and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX mobile graphics card. This version also houses two USB 3.0 and a Type-C USB port. This Xiaomi Notebook Air is claimed to have a battery life of upto nine and a half hours.

The 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air, on the other hand, gets an humble Intel Core M3 processor, 4GB RAM, integrated graphics and a 128GB SSD. But the 12.5-inch model, with its relatively lower configuration, can last upto 11 and a half hours which is two-hours more than the 13.3-inch models.

Both laptops feature a full-HD display, edge-to-edge glass protection, a full metal body and a back-lit keyboard. The laptops run on Windows 10 Home operating system and can be synced with Mi Cloud to effortlessly transfer the images from various devices. The Mi Band 2 can automatically unlock the laptops when it is in close proximity.

The smaller Mi Notebook Air outruns the 13.3-inch model in terms of pricing. The 13.3 inch model has been priced at 4,999 Chinese yuan which works out to approximately US$ 750 whereas the 12.5-inch version comes for 3,499 yuan which is around US$ 525.
