Yuma, Arizona
Yuma deserves its reputation as the unofficial “snowbird” capital of the US. Officially, it’s America’s sunniest city, with clear sunny skies over 90 percent of the time. It’s also the least humid city, with the fewest rainy days. This border town has easy access to tourist-friendly Mexican towns, as well as casinos and shopping malls. Book a short-term visit in one of the many resort properties, or set up house in a long-term RV park and soak up the sun.
Coronado, California
Miles of beach, a Mediterranean climate, and the laid-back California vibe make Coronado Island a perfect place to escape the cold. The temperature averages a pleasant 72 degrees year round. Both Parents magazine and the Travel Channel gave Coronado beaches number one ratings, and the iconic Hotel Del Coronado is a luxurious must-see. Take the ferry for a fabulous view of the San Diego skyline. Stroll the historic South Beach and you might catch the hull of the sunken Monte Carlo–or a few Navy SEALs doing water drills.

Maui, Hawaii
