Looking for an all-natural healthy kickstart to your day that tastes great? Try this energy boosting (not to mention brain-boosting) smoothie recipe!

You will need:

blueberries (fresh or frozen)

low fat unsweetened greek yogurt

fresh kale

ground flax seed

ice, to taste

 

 

 

1. Into your blender, add 1 to 2 cups of blueberries (fresh or frozen)

 

2. Next, add 3/4 of a cup of 0% milk fat, high protein unsweetened yogurt

3. Then add 2 (well washed) Kale leaves

4. Add 1 heaping teaspoon of ground flax seed

5. Blend at high speed for one minute (if in doubt, blend it longer to ensure kale is completely blended).

Enjoy!

 

Tips:

When I use frozen blueberries I add 1/4 cup of hot water to ensure there is enough moisture for the ingredients to blend. But I offset it with more ice to keep the drink cold.

Kale is a very strong flavor so I only use 2 leaves; if you substitute spinach, you can use a lot more.
