Yesterday, Ginger Nut Media held an event which was ran, organised and attended by 9 of our apprentices. It was held at Colchester’s Firstsite, guests included Local MP Sir Bob Russell, The Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester, Essex County Council, Skills Funding Agency, Colchester’s Local Job Centre and St Helena’s Hospice.

The Event was in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, to raise awareness to both employers and employees of how valued apprenticeships should be. Short talks from all of above were proven very useful, and guest Jade Nash (who starred in TV Show the Apprentice in 2012) quoted how “valuable apprentices are and I will definitely look at extending my company through apprentices.” She currently has one apprentice employed in her company ChooseLeads but is definitely looking to boost the number of apprentices she has employed.

Our digital marketing apprentices below, all working towards a digital marketing diploma, also did short talks on why they chose an apprenticeship over other options. Grace Newman explained while already having studied and been awarded a degree in Graphic Design, the experience she’s gained in 4 months on the design team is more than she learnt in the 3 years she was studying.

A huge benefit, which was recognised throughout the day is how much experience the apprentices are able to gain through being in a working environment. To be taught on the job training whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification and being paid to do so really is the best of both worlds.

Thank you to all who attended! We are very pleased to have raised awareness for apprenticeships in Colchester Essex, as we value apprentices greatly for allowing our company to grow sustainably.
