Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton: This Is Stones Throw, a feature-length documentary about Peanut Butter Wolf’s label, is currently in the works and slated for completion in early 2013. Weaving together rare concert footage, never-before-seen archival material, inner-circle home video and photos, as well as in-depth interviews with the folks who put Stones Throw on the map, director Jeff Broadway’s Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton will explore the label’s history, sound, artists, and global following. The Los Angeles based label, started in 1996 is 370 releases deep and counting. They boast a wide spectrum of music and superb rostrum of Hip-Hop, Rap, Funk, and Soul musicians, such as J Dilla, Madlib, Madvillian, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam Funk, The Step Kids, Jonti, Peanut Butter Wolf, Charizma, J-Rocc, Guilty Simpson, Quakers, Aloe Blacc, Kareim Riggins, Steve Arrington, Chrome Canyon, James Pants, Gary Wilson, Strong Arm Steady, Chrome Canyon, Homeboy Sandman, Vex Ruffin, and Jon Wayne. Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton is still in production, and Broadway’s Gatling Pictures is soliciting donations to fund its completion. Watch the teaser video below:
