Job Title: Community Mobilization Officer

Job Description
The Community Mobilization Officer will provide support in the implementation, organisation, follow-up and reporting of community mobilization activities of the CMAM program in close collaboration with the SMOH/LGA and ACF LGA Officers. She/he will implement and supervise the activities in the communities to strengthen coverage of CMAM, IYCF and WASH activities.
Key Objectives
Objective 1:
Undertake Community Mobilization Activities in collaboration with the health facility staff
Organize sensitization meetings with community leaders, village heads, community elders, traditional leaders, and TBAs to communicate the details of overall ACF program objectives with specific focus on CMAM, IYCF & WASH key messages.
Undertake community mapping and other similar exercises to facilitate community level planning and decision making processes.
Promote integration of WASH and nutrition activities by facilitating the use of household latrines and identifying beneficiaries for the program from target villages identified by ACF.
Objective 2:
Support the health facilities with active case findings, defaulter tracking & follow-up:
Conduct regular/refresher trainings for the CVs on CMAM, IYCF and WASH, and ensure that the CVs identifies active SAM cases in the community and refer them to the nearest health facilities
Involve in joint planning to follow up on referral children to OTP to Stabilization Centre as well as SC to OTP
Regular follow up with the LGA Officers to identify the absentees at the health facility level
Work closely with the CVs to plan and organize regular home visits to the children who are absent from the program
Work closely with the CVs to identify the communities with high defaulters and causes of the high defaulters rates
Work with the community/village/religious leaders & CVs to improve the community sensitization & identify the solutions in order to reduce defaulters
Objective 3:
To participate actively in IYCF & WASH activities in the community
Ensure that IYCF mother support groups are formed according to the plan
Organized regular mother support group meetings at the community
Develop monthly health education session plan including CMAM, IYCF & WASH key messages
Set up regular health education sessions in the community in consultation with key nutrition & WASH staff
Report the outcome of the meetings using the proper data tools
Liaise with Water Users Committee to assess and report WASH needs in health facilities and make recommendations for intervention.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
Diploma in Health/Nutrition related sciences with a major in Community Mobilization preferred; combination of work experience and sufficiently related areas of study may be accepted in lieu
Strategic thinking, planning, reporting and communication skills
Fluent in English and Hausa; other regional languages an asset; solid literacy skills in English
Interpersonal skills - able to work with diverse stakeholders and partners effectively
Precision and exactitude
Basic computer literacy
Good capacity to work in a team
Knowledge of admission criteria and Nigeria CMAM protocol
Resident of community area (LGA) of work, networks within community
Previous NGO experience in a similar setting
Proficiency with local languages (Kanouri, Fulani)
Knowledge of arithmetic to make anthropometric measurements and statistics
