Welcome to our beginners help guide on how to use cpanel’s web host manager functions. cPanel web host manager is normally used to run a hosting reseller business or network of websites, basically the web host manager is a web based interface which allows the user to access their server if using a dedicated server or your part of the server if your using a shared hosting reseller.

This allows the user to easily manage many aspects of your reseller or dedicated hosting space without having to be a server expert and can be done from anywhere with an internet connection. You can use your web host manager to easily do the following

Manage Hosting Packages:

Before you can add hosting accounts you will need to first setup at least 1 hosting package, follow the steps below to complete this task.

- Login TO WHM.

- Find and click “Packages” in the left sidebar then “Add a Package”.

- Fill in the package name of your choice.

- Fill in the Resources and leave all the other settings as they are.

Click “Add” and your done. You can now create hosting accounts for this package. You can also Edit packages or delete packages anytime you want on the “Packages” page.

Create Accounts:

To create new hosting accounts using web host manager follow the steps below.

- Login TO WHM.

- Find and click “Account Functions” in the left sidebar, now click “Create a New Account”

- Fill in the domain name – use only domain.com format, do not include http or www.

- Fill in your desired username and password for this account

- Enter the email address of the customer or person who manages this account. This is NOT intended to be your email address. Leave blank if you prefer and cpanel on the user end will prompt the user to enter their email address.

- For package click the drop menu, select the package you want to use – You will only see the packages that you created in the previous step here.

Now the rest of the information you can leave the default settings so just scroll to the bottom of the page and click create. Now the account is created, if the domain name is already pointed to your name server settings the user account can be access with the user/pw you just created using the extension /cpanel or :2082 after your domain name in the address bar… for example domain.com/cpanel or domain.com:2082

Terminate Accounts:

Terminating an account will remove all the files and database completely and can not be undone. To remove accounts

- Login TO WHM.

- Find and click “Account Functions” in the left sidebar, now click “Terminate Account”

- Find the domain you want removed and click once, it will highlight in blue.

Now just click terminate button at the bottom of the page and wait for the confirmation page to load and your done.

Suspend or Un-Suspend Accounts:

You can temporarily Suspend or Unsuspended accounts you are hosting with OUT losing any data on that account. This function suspends the website from being viewed by users and blocks the account holder from accessing their account. This is a handy tool to get payments from those hosting customers who never seem to pay on time or who wants their services suspended until a later time without having to completely remove their account.

- Login TO WHM.

- Find and click “Account Functions” then click “Manage Account Suspension”

- Find the domain you want to manage and click once, it will highlight in blue.

Now click the suspend or unsuspended button and wait for the confirmation page to load. Note: domains highlight in pink in the manage account suspension list are already suspended.

Copy Accounts Directly From Another Server:

Web host manager allows you to directly copy and entire account from another server. You will just need access to the hosting account on the server that you want to copy. You can then copy the entire account including all files, databases, email addresses automatically without having to install anything yourself. This is a handy tool for people who sell hosting or just have a lot of accounts to move since you just need to connect to the account and the coping is done for you. You can even copy an entire server including all accounts and data if you recently switched hosting providers or if you upgrading to a new server.

To copy a single account from another server you can:

- Login TO WHM.

- Find and click “Transfers”

- Click “Copy an Account From Another Server With an Account Password”

Now you would just need to fill in the main IP address for the other server along with the account’s username and password then hit copy account. The system will then copy the entire account for you without you having to do anything. Be patient after you click “copy account” it takes normally 2-5 minutes to copy the account allow the next page to fully load otherwise the transfer will fail, very large accounts will take longer to copy.

cPanel Add on Software:

You should definitely use the Install cPAddons options to add extra functions to your user end control panel that your customers/users need and will ask you for, guaranteed. These add ons will allow users to automatically install wordpress blogs, bulletin board websites, CMS websites, E-commerce websites and more.

The most requested cPAddons are wordpress blogs, e-commerce websites and CMS websites. Below is the steps you can take to enable the 3 most requested cPAddons:

- Login To WHM

- Find and click “cPanel” then select “Install cPAddons Site Software”

You will now see a list of currently available cPAddons, select the programs named WordPress, OSCommerce for ecommerce websites and E107 for the CMS websites. Now click “Update cPAddons Config” button to enable those programs.

If you go to the “Install cPAddons Site Software” page and do NOT see the programs named WordPress, OSCommerce and E107 means they are not installed on your server so you will have to go to “cPanel” link again and select “Manage Plugins” you will now see and be able to install the programs. Once done go back to “Install cPAddons Site Software” and enable the programs.
