The scale and depth of what’s on offer over the next few months is enough to make even the most dedicated gig goer weak at the knees, but thankfully, Getintothis is there to aid you in your quest with our gig guide here to suit all your musical needs.

With both Liverpool Music Week and Liverpool Psych Fest both rightly gaining the attention of many –  with the likes of John Carpenter and The Horrors on offer, why wouldn’t they – but away from these, there is an abundance of musical delights to cater to your needs and interests, with Liverpool Disco Fest and Liverpool Soul Fest to name but a few.

Listener: The Buyers Club, September 1

Spoken word does not come more ferociously than in the dynamic three piece Listener, who head to the Buyers Club at the start of September. Originally an underground hip hop project, the group have blossomed into the lyrical assault weapon that they are today.

The Fatback Band: Philharmonic Hall, September 2

If there is one thing that Liverpool loves, its funk, and this September, funk lovers can rejoice in the presence of legends The Fatback Band, who head up to the Hope Street venue ready to fill it with their renowned take on street funk. Don’t forget your dancing shoes for this one.

Swmrs: Studio 2, September 2

Having released their hook rinsed debut LP Drive North earlier in the year, So-Cal surf punks Swmrs will be primed to flood Studio 2 with their exuberant rock antics. With the group renowned for their party antics, the roof is set to well and truly be blown off for this one.

Chas and Dave: St Georges Hall, September 3

This September some of you may want to climb up those apples and pears before there’s barney rubble, with cockney legends Chas and Dave set to bring a good old knees up to St Georges Hall. If this isn’t your thing, well there Ain’t No Pleasing You.

Animal Collective: O2 Academy, September 3

When Evol and Harvest Sun combine for an event, you know it’s going to be special. That is most certainly the case this September, when the experimental trio Animal Collective make a long awaited return to town in support of their latest album Painting With. Read our full preview here.

Professor Yaffle: The Scandinavian Church, September 3

Often described as a galactic collective of friends, exploring the boundaries of psych and pop, Professor Yaffle will head to the intimate settings of The Scandinavian Church showcasing their Pandora’s Box of influences. Expect the unexpected is an understatement.

Youngblood Brass Band: The Magnet, September 4

Hip hop, riot jazz pioneers Youngblood Brass Band will be creating an almighty clatter up at The Magnet this September, when the ten piece collective bring their army to the Hardman Street hideout. Flipping the classic New Orleans sound on its head, the group are true masters of their art.

Broken Brass Ensemble: Arts Club, September 6

Two brass bands in as many days? Yes, it would seem that brass is most definitely the order of the day for early September as Broken Brass Ensemble head to the Arts Club. The eight piece melt together Balkan sounds with funk and dance to make a sound like no other.

Barenaked Ladies: O2 Academy, September 7

Nearly three decades strong, cult Canadians Barenaked Ladies make a welcomed return to Liverpool this September, as they play the O2 Academy as part of their UK tour. With an army of fans worldwide, the alt rockers will be be hoping this goes off with a big bang.

The Blockheads: The Cavern, September 8

Nearly forty years in the business and still going strong, rockers The Blockheads will be ready to hit you with their rhythm stick this September, as they head down to The Cavern. Having continued to show their diversity since the tragic loss of former frontman Ian Drury, the group are most definitely a one of a kind act.

Eleanor Friedberger: Arts Club, September 8

Bring the latest chapter in her mesmerising career to Liverpool this Autumn, the magical Eleanor Friedberger plays a highly anticipated date at Seel Street venue The Arts Club. The indie – pop maestro is a rare delight you should not pass upon seeing. Read our full preview here.

Lowkey:  24 Kitchen Street, September 8

One of the best rappers in the UK is finally back, with Lowkey set to hit 24 Kitchen Street this September. A keen activist and inspirational lyricist, Lowkey will be returning from a four year hiatus, and if news single Ahmed is anything to go by, he means business.

The Enemy: O2 Academy, September 9

Now a decade old, Coventry trio The Enemy will head to Liverpool for the last time this Autumn, as they play the O2 Academy as part of their farewell tour. The indie rockers have long been firm favourites with many over the years, so expect this to be one hell of a party.

The Basement Effect: Arts Club, September 10

Celebrating the release of their debut EP, Young and The Same, retro rockers The Basement Effect will be heading to the Arts Club having made quite an impression at this years LIMF. With an abundance of promise in their hands, these are a group to keep an eye on.

The Sherlocks: Arts Club, September 15

Having played the venue six months earlier, Sheffield rockers The Sherlocks head back to the Arts Club later this year to play the big room. Still without a debut album to their name, they are more than capable of living up to the hype that surrounds them.

Gary Numan: Liverpool Olympia, September 16

The electro icon that is Gary Numan heads to the vast surroundings of Liverpool Olympia this Autumn, as he demonstrates why he is such an influential artist to so many. So gather your friends electric and head to this one for an early treat this season. Read our full preview here.

Roddy Woomble: Music Room, September 16

Former Idelwild frontman Roddy Woomble returns to Liverpool this September, when the Ayrshire singer comes to the Music Room to celebrate a decade since the release of his debut album, My Secret is my Silence. One of the most distinctive vocals in the UK in such intimate surroundings, should appeal to many a music lover.

Moon Hooch: Arts Club, September 17

Brooklyn trio Moon Hooch bring their own brand of Cave Music to the Arts Club next month, as they take to the Seel Street stage on their Liverpool debut. A dab hand at creating techno, jazz infused house at breakneck pace, they leave their impression on all who witness them.

Darma: The Brink, September 17

One of Liverpool’s best kept secrets, The Brink plays host to Manchesters grunge fuzz lovers Darma this September. Injecting a much needed dose of energy into our neighbours down the East Lancs, the trio are swiftly gaining a name for their super charged shows.

The Lottery Winners: Arts Club, September 18

Having signed up to Sire Records roster recently, Lancashire quartet The Lottery Winners will be kicking off their UK tour in Liverpool this Autumn, when they play the Arts Club. The four piece are being tipped for big things, with this a chance to see if they can deliver on the promise many have sent their way.

O.S.T.R: 24 Kitchen Street, September 18

The Baltic Triangle will be taking it up a notch later this year, when one of Poland’s finest rappers O.S.T.R descends on 24 Kitchen Street as part of his UK tour. Making his Liverpool debut, the freestyle artist is renowned for his ambitious lyrics and unique beats.

Deap Valley: Invisible Wind Factory, September 20

California rockers Deap Valley make their much anticipated return to our shores this September, when they head up North to play the Invisible Wind Factory. Having released their sophomore album days before this show, the duo will be primed to take this by the horns. Read our full preview here.

XamVolo: The Magnet, September 20

The continuing rise of XamVolo is a wonder to behold. Having played fantastic sets at Sound City and LIMF earlier in the year, his intriguing jazztronic grooves will be casting spells in The Magnet this Autumn as continues his meteoric rise.

Sundara Karma: Arts Club, September 21

Having smashed the roof off the Arts Club earlier in the year, indie rockers Sundara Karma return to the venue to take on the main room. If you have yet to see what all the fuss is about with the group, we would suggest you pay them a visit.

KRS ONE

The Beat: The Magnet, September 21

Legendary ska collective The Beat make a much welcomed return to our fair city this September, as they head up to play the confined innards of The Magnet. With their first album in over thirty years also set for release, this is going to be one hell of a party. Read our full preview here.

Trash Boat: Studio 2, September 23

Pop punk quintet Trash Boat could quite possibly be the noisiest thing to have come from St Albans. Playing raw, emotive blasts of punk, the group are set to release their debut long player soon and take in a stop at Studio 2 this autumn as part of their UK tour.

Only Shadows: The Shipping Forecast, September 23

Making the quick trip up the M6, indie rockers Only Shadows are being tipped to take this year by storm. The four piece head to The Shipping Forecast this September as part of their debut headline tour, having only released their debut single Be Still a matter of weeks ago.

MiC Lowry: O2 Academy, September 23

Having been nominated for this years GIT Award, MiC Lowry take to the O2 Academy as part of their biggest UK tour to date. Prince Fatty: Constellations, September 23

Producer come reggae maestro, Mike Pelanconi aka Prince Fatty hits up the Baltic Triangle this September, to inject his futuristic twist on reggae. In the post Internet age, the southern groover is heralded as a pioneer in his field and will be a treat for all who come to this one.

Westerman: Arts Club, September 23

Fast rising London songwriter Westerman rolls into the Arts Club this Autumn, with the singers storytelling winning plaudits from all corners. Having released his debut EP earlier in the year, the young wordsmith is showing great promise with his take on modern folk. One to keep an eye on.

Sam Forrest: The Buyers Club, September 23

The frontman of rockers Nine Black Alps takes a break way from his bandmates this September, as Sam Forrest showcases his solo work at The Buyers Club as part of his UK tour. The prolific songwriter has gained plaudits for his off kilter indie unique cuts.

Oscar: Studio 2, September 24

Fresh from releasing his debut album Cut and Paste earlier this year, one of our pics for 2016 heads to Studio 2 later this year as Oscar roles into the intimate Parr Street venue. With a dash of Brit-pop fusing into his lofi goodness, the songsmith has melancholy in abundance. Read our full preview here.

Celebrating their fourteenth birthday in style, the legend that is Circus will be blowing the roof off the Arts Club this September as Yousef heads up a whopper of a lineup. Hailing from the northern metropolis that is York, indie rockers King No One will be primed to smash the Arts Club upon their return to Liverpool later this autumn. Paul Dunbar & The Black Winter Band: Leaf, September 28

This September, former The Midnight Rambler man Paul Dunbar releases his anticipated debut single Barely Holding On, with a special show at Leaf. Joining this Mellowtone show with Dunbar, will be his trusted and talented backing band The Black Winter Band as together they look to showcase the songwriters melodic driving fusions of rock and soul at the Bold Street venue.

Blood Youth: Studio 2, September 29

Ferocious foursome Blood Youth will be looking to rip up Studio 2 this Autumn as they come to Liverpool in support of their latest EP The Closure. The metal punks are barely a year old into their career, but having played rousing sets at the likes of Download, the group are showing true promise.

The Zutons: Mountford Hall, September 30

Following the tragic loss of Tramp Attack founder Kris Ealey, this Autumn will see modern day local legends The Zutons reform for a one off show to celebrate their friend’s life. In what is quickly becoming their second home, London four piece INHEAVEN return to Liverpool this Autumn to play Studio 2 as part of their extensive UK tour. With a name that translates into forget not from Latin, chances are anyone that gets to see Ne Obliviscaris at the Arts Club this autumn will definitely not be forgetting them in a hurry. The six piece Australian prog metal behemoth are renowned for their stage show, so expect this to live long in your memory.

Meilyr Jones: Leaf, October 5

Following a swell of plaudits for his debut LP 2013, Meilyr Jones returns to our city this October to make the step up to Leaf having played a blinding set last time at Studio 2. Making their second visit to Liverpool this year, the mysterious wonder of NGOD makes a much welcomed return to The Magnet this autumn. With the group capable of delivering a super charged set of manic ferocity, this is well worth keeping an eye on.

In what is a busy night for music in Liverpool, grunge psych four piece Demob Happy hit The Buyers Club later this year. The Newcastle come Brighton quartet will appeal to anyone who likes their tunes loud, fast and with some venom.

The Travelling Band: The Magnet, October 14

At one point describing themselves as “folk noir”, Mancunian indie folk group The Travelling Band make the trip down the M62 later this year to play The Magnet. The five piece folk juggernaut are firmly a corner stone of the Manchester modern music scene. If you have yet to pay them a visit, don let this one slide.

Field Studies: The Shipping Forecast, October 15

Nottinghamshire four piece Field Studies will be playing the belly of The Shipping Forecast this October, as they look to build upon their rapidly growing reputation. The ambient art rock group are hooking people in left, right and center with their sounds, so expect a few bodies for this one. Read our full preview here.

South west trio Black Foxxes return to Liverpool this autumn, as the noise mongers play the Arts Club as part of their UK tour. With the groups debut set to drop this month, the threesome are filled with snarling riffs and enough screams to make your hairs stand on end.

MØ: Arts Club, October 18

In part responsible for one of the biggest selling songs of recent years, Danish pop pixie MØ will be making her Liverpool debut at the Arts Club this October. Described as electro with guts, the singer will be playing plenty of her latest cuts as she gears up to the release of her sophomore album this year. Read our full preview here.

Beach Baby: Studio 2, October 18

London four piece Beach Baby are just the jolt of sunshine that you need as the colder nights start to arrive, so make sure you get warmed up by their charms this October when they play Studio 2. With their debut released the month earlier, this post punk power punch is ready to hit hard.

Scott Fagan: Music Room, October 19

Lisa Hannigan: Arts Club, October 21

The phenomenal vocal talents of Irish singer songwriter Lisa Hannigan make a much welcome return to Liverpool later this year, when she plays the Arts Club in support of her new album At Swim. Described as her darkest offering to date, her vocals are otherworldly at times.

The Wicked Whispers: The Buyers Club, October 21

Psychedelic offerings don’t get much better then the sublime cuts that The Wicked Whsipers are able to deliver, with seemingly effortless ease. The group will be making a homecoming appearance at The Buyers Club later this year, with plenty of heads set to be at this one.

The Hummingbirds: Arts Club, October 22

With their new album released earlier in the year, The Hummingbirds will have the Arts Club in their sights as they play a homecoming show at the Seel Street venue. Having gone down a storm at Liverpool Loves this summer, this could well be a sell out.

Lady Leshurr: O2 Academy, October 22

Arguably the new queen of the British rap game, Lady Leshurr is already taking this year by storm with her debut album one of the most anticipated of the year. Having blossomed from their acclaimed debut album to the tour de force shown on their recent release, Teleman return to Liverpool this year to play Leaf as part of their UK tour. Loudon Wainwright III: Philharmonic Hall, October 23

In a busy night up Hope Street, the poet and folk legend Loudon Wainwright III will be demonstrating why he is rightly seen as an icon in his field when he plays the Philharmonic Hall this Autumn. With his twenty sixth album released earlier in the year, his work rate puts plenty a younger artist in the shade.

Damien Dempsey: Music Room, October 23

Heralded as one of his country’s greatest singer songwriters, Damien Dempsay plays the intimate surrounding of the Music Room this Autumn. In a real treat for lovers of folk music, the Dublin man will be playing cuts from his latest offering No Force On Earth, a celebration of the Easter Rising.

Slow Club: The Magnet, October 25

Always ones to count on for laying down a humdinger of a show, Sheffield duo Slow Club return to Liverpool this October, as they play The Magnet. With the group having released their fourth long player recently, expect plenty of new tunes at this one.

Yak: O2 Academy, October 26

Rapidly becoming firm favourites around these ways, London trio Yak head back to Liverpool this Autumn to play the O2 Academy as part of their biggest tour to date.
