Nowadays the market is swamped with different types of hair extensions from various countries like Chinese, Peruvian, Indian, and Brazilian etc. All these extensions are called Virgin hair.

So what is virgin hair? It is hair that has retained intact all its cuticles. It has not been subject to the following treatments: dyeing, perming, colouring, bleaching or any other chemical treatment.

Usually, the hair is drawn singly resulting in different lengths inside the weft. It is the next best option from Remy hair. Also, virgin hair is sourced from a single donor. First, it is tied back into a pony tail and then the tail is cut. Each virgin pony tail must come from a single donor.

The reason why a single pony tail is cut is to retain the cuticles running in the same direction, so the hair keeps from shedding and tangling. After the pony tail has been cut, it is disinfected after washing. It is set into double drawn or single drawn wefts.

The two main types of good hair extensions are Brazilian hair and Indian hair. Brazilian hair is culled from several rural areas of Brazil. Donors are rewarded for producing healthy and strong hair. The interesting factor is that Brazilians are of African, Indian, and European origin.

The feature of Brazilian hair is that they are determined by the genetic factors and the regions of Brazil from which they originate. But in Brazil, there is a great deal of genetic diversity, so they have less consistent features.

Brazilian diversity is divided into the following three classes:

Grade   A: Mostly comes from European or Caucasian descent. The hair is straight, fine and silky in texture. This hair is ideal for making lace wigs.

Grade B: Most popular type of Brazilian hair, it is thicker and more wavy in texture. Highly resistant to the sun, it comes in shades from copper to dark brown.

Grade C: Comes from Afro- Caribbean population. It is commonly called as Muttalu (curly). The hair is curly, thick and coarse. Coming usually in colours like light brown to black, it can be wavy or tightly curled.

Brazilian hair is prized in the market for its high quality. Cheap straight Brazilian hair extension is much in demand. It comes in a variety of curly, wavy or straight hair styles. Shades of colours range from black to deep brown!

Indian hair is mostly sourced from the temple of Tirupati where hair is shaved to please the Gods. There are two types of Indian hair. First is the Remy Indian hair that has been lightly processed to change the texture. The other is virgin Indian hair that has never been processed. Indian hair is usually thick and straight. It comes in dark colours like brown and black, so if you get lighter colours, the product is probably fraudulent.

Indian hair is good if you want affordable, shiny and healthy hair extensions. It is easy to straighten and is coarse and thick. Virgin Indian hair is long and shiny. But it lacks bounce or body.
