We have several outstanding opportunities in the White Plains, New York area for experienced Certified Anesthesia Technicians. These are full-time positions with benefits that are subject to shift assignments to include weekend rotation.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Cleans, sterilizes and sets up all types of anesthesia equipment and their components including blood gas equipment, anesthesia machines, venous and arterial pressure lines, endotracheal tubes, nasopharyngeal tubes, vaporizers, ventilators, EKG monitors, blood warmers, infusion bumps, Bair huggers, etc.
Checks, cleans, and maintains anesthesia machines on a daily basis, refilling vaporizers with anesthetic agents, changing the soda lime, changing the nitrous, oxygen and air cylinders as needed and checking for leakages, etc.
Performs blood gas analysis using blood gas analyzing and centrifuge equipment to determine and monitor the pH, carbon dioxide, oxygen, hemoglobin, hematocrit, sodium, potassium, calcium and oxygen saturation levels in the blood of patients
Assists anesthesiologist as needed during surgery.
Reports blood-gas test results to anesthesiologist and enters information in patients’ chart
Ensures adequate inventory of all equipment and supplies related to anesthesia machines, ventilators, monitoring equipment, pressure transducers, endotracheal tubes, spinal and block trays, non-narcotic medications, etc.
Ensures that operating rooms are properly stocked.
Ensures that medications, drugs and anesthetics are properly stored and refrigerated, and properly disposed of when unusable.
Performs other general duties related to the safe and efficient operation of the anesthesia department
May assist in with training residents in the use of the anesthesia machines and related equipment.
Position Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D
Completion of a formal Anesthesia Technician training from an approved institution.
Certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) by the ASATT
One to five years of experience preferable in a hospital operating room preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies.
