Description: This is an individual contributor position
within the Concept Engineering organization of the Research
and Development division of the Mobile and Communications
Group. The role of the Software Architecture group is to work
with marketing and development teams to help with product
definition and design, understanding and managing tradeoffs
between cost, effort and flexibility. Responsibilities
include:-- Developing system requirements from a
variety of sources such as customer inputs, marketing inputs,
competitive assessment and industry standards (e.g.
3GPP)-- Supporting the business organization and
customers in understanding the impact of requirements on
mobile phone products-- Defining the hardware and
software component structure of wireless phone/modem
solutions to meet requirements-- Developing
prototypes and models to explore alternative
designs-- Analyzing internal and competitive
platforms to establish power and performance
targets-- Performing benchmarking to validate
designs and track execution progress-- Reviewing
software design and implementation to ensure consistency
between architecture and
implementationQualificationsMinimum
Qualifications-- Master in Software Engineering,
Computer Science, or related field-- Course work
on wireless communication, software engineering--
Previous experience/school projects in embedded software
development for mobile phones or closely related
industry--1-2+ years experience with C/C++
programming object oriented
techniquesPreferred-- PhD in
Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related
field.-- 2+ years in embedded software development
for mobile phones or closely related industry--
Fluent in C/C++ programming and object oriented
techniques-- Experience with UML and corresponding
tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect or Rational
Modeler)-- Experience working with distributed
multicultural teams-- Experience developing
software requirements and architectures--
Experience in one or more of the following for Android or
Windows Phone:- Application and library/framework
architecture and development- Driver architecture
and development- Inter-processor
communication-- Experience with Android is a
