Mary's Crown by Jennifer Mathis, Ellison Lane Quilts

Do you even have to ask? Yes, TOMORROW is the day when we can let Ladies Mary and Edith, their various swains, resilient Lord and Lady Grantham, the redoubtable Dowager and the downstairs Downton family out of suspended animation, and see where their privileged lives lead them next.

So, we WON’T be sewing tomorrow night during the Season 4 opener (mostly because the sewing room has no TV). But we have been designing, specifically our visions of modern rendered in the Downton Abbey fabric collection by Andover Fabrics.  Some of you, have too, ‘cuz we have begun receiving entries in Generation Q’s Modern Downton Abbey Block Challenge! Our thanks to those entries we’ve already received.

However, the holidays obviously slowed things down a bit for us, and we suspect, everyone. Soooo we’re extending the entry deadline for our DA Modern Block Challenge until Feb. 5, 2014.  At that point, our judges will convene, and we’ll announce a winner shortl;y thereafter.

You can STILL play! It’s simple:  Go here to get  the full scoop on rules, prizes and sending in your entry. Meanwhile, we’re happy to tease a little, with Mary’s Crown, an  original Downton Modern block (pictured above) by Jennifer Mathis of Ellison Lane Quilts.

 Mary’s Crown

by Jennifer Mathis

“My Downton Abbey block is a modern interpretation of a crown- a nod to the Crawley family’s royal heritage. I’m a huge fan of the show! This crown is a modern representation of their lifestyle and the simplicity of it is complimentary to the changing fashion styles that were represented in this past season.”
