Gwen’s Genealogy Blog
https://gwensgenealogyblog.wordpress.com/
Blog type: Family

Welcome to my newest Genealogy endeavor. My name is Gwen and I love exploring my family history. In the photo to the left is me as a baby and that is my oldest sister Nina holding me.

I began researching our family history in 1983. It started with an 8th grade school history project. We were given an assignment to develop a Pedigree chart. With that assignment I was hooked! I began to write to different Family History library’s and collect information from them regarding my family history. I did not have a computer nor access to the vast amount of information that we have at our fingertips today.

My husband and I married in 1987 and shortly thereafter I began researching his family history as well as mine. Again, all this was done with visits to library’s and writing family history research centers and interviewing relatives as well. In 2009 we decided to add Genetic Genealogy to the mix. As a result we have confirmed a lot of family members through the use of DNA and we have found a few family secrets that our ancestors probably thought would never come to light.

A true Genealogist work is never done. There are always new avenues to explore and new information to unearth. I’ve found that if I step away for a bit and come back, I usually find something new that I overlooked the first time. This blog is a result of many hours of research on my part. Have I made mistakes? Yes. Will I continue to make mistakes? Probably. But you know what, that is how we learn. As I add information to this site I am going to do my best to add in depth sources for your ease in locating information. Please be patient with me. Kindness costs nothing. I’ve met a lot of people as a result of my interest in genealogy, most were nice and extremely helpful. Occasionally I have ran across those who for whatever reason were not so nice. With that being said, please, if you have something to share or you see something that you feel is incorrect within my info, please be nice about it. If you send me a hateful message about it, I’m probably not going to respond at all and the information will not be changed. I do ask for sources, if you are going to expect me to explore the possibility of something I have listed as being wrong, please be courteous enough to forward me the Documentation that you have that proves my information is not correct. If you can do that then by all means I will be happy to explore and see what needs to be corrected and will absolutely give you credit for your work.

I am glad your here. I hope that we can all work together for the good of those who come after us and who will one day take interest in our Genealogical endeavors.  Good luck and God Speed in your research!

Who am I?

My name is Phillip and I am a budding genealogist. Although I have been interested in genealogy for over a decade, in the past few years, I have found myself spending more and more time researching my family lines and seeking genealogical knowledge. The research fascinates me. I have a life-long interest in history, and placing my own family within the larger world provides hours of fun.

What is this blog?

I decided to start this blog to help fulfill a couple of goals. First, I wish to become a better writer, especially regarding writing about family history. Practice, practice, practice! Second, I wish to share what I have and continue to learn regarding my family history and genealogy in general.

Here’s to the journey.
