NEW Genealogy Bargains

Save 30% to 40% on Huguenot Books! Today through Monday, August 22nd, save on some of the best books for Huguenot genealogy research from Genealogical Publishing Company! Titles include:

History of Huguenot Emigration to America. Two Volumes. The bulk of the work is devoted to the important emigration of French Protestants (via the Netherlands and Great Britain) in the last quarter of the 17th century to the time of the Revolutionary War. There is a profusion of genealogical detail on the early Huguenot families of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia, later families having dispersed to Pennsylvania and other states. Was $75.00, Now $44.95!

Huguenot and Scots Links, 1575-1775. After Louis XIV rescinded the Edict of Nantes in 1685, Huguenots, fearing reprisals, fled to whichever of Europe’s Protestant countries would receive them, including Scotland, which officially had become a Protestant country in 1560. David Dobson has unearthed information concerning more than 1,000 Scottish Huguenots or their descendants. For each individual, Mr. Dobson provides the name, a locale, a date, usually an occupation, and something about the person (e.g., “admitted as a burgess,” or “apprenticed to James Smart a merchant in Edinburgh.” Was $16.00, Now $9.50!

Huguenot Genealogies. In deciding which books and articles to include in this collection, the compiler’s rule of thumb was to include family histories whose progenitors and early descendants, at least, could be documented as having Huguenot ancestry. About 700 titles are cited in all, and they are arranged in alphabetical order of the principal family of the genealogy. In each case the citation gives the full title of the work, the author, year and sometimes place of publication, and, in the case of articles from journals, the volume and issue of the periodical. Was $14.00, Now $7.95!

Memoirs of a Huguenot Family. This classic history is drawn from authentic family papers of the famous Huguenot family of Jacques Fontaine and the families of Fontaine and Maury, from whom thousands of persons now living in the U.S. are descended. The coverage follows the de la Fontaine in France, England, Ireland, and Virginia, where Fontaine’s sons and daughters mostly immigrated. Was $41.95, Now $24.95!

The Huguenots of Colonial South Carolina. The Huguenot settlement of South Carolina commenced in 1670. Genealogists will want to consult this work because it identifies all important Huguenot settlements in colonial South Carolina as well as eminent pioneers or families. The work also includes a bibliography, subject index, and early documents pertaining to the founding of the Huguenot settlements. Was $35.00, Now $20.95!

The Huguenots: Their Settlements, Churches, and Industries in England and Ireland. This remarkable work examines the history of Huguenot settlements and churches and draws particular attention to the contribution and influence of the Huguenots in the British Isles. For genealogists, the most interesting feature of the work is the section on Huguenot refugees and descendants. This consists of a collection of 300 biographies of noted Huguenot refugees who settled in Britain.. Additionally, the work contains an important section on the Huguenots in America by G. P. Disoway, featuring histories of the Huguenots in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina. Was $41.50, Now $27.95!

The Huguenots in France and America. Hannah Lee’s work is an exhaustive account of the origins of the Huguenots in France, their persecution and their subsequent flight. An important section of nearly 100 pages is devoted to the Huguenots who settled at Boston and Oxford (MA), New Rochelle (NY), New Paltz (NY), Frenchtown (RI), and Jamestown (SC). Was $55.00, Now $31.95!

Huguenot Emigration to Virginia. With an Appendix of Genealogies Presenting Data of the Fontaine, Maury, Dupuy, Trabue, Marye, Chastain, Cocke, and Other Families. This definitive work on the Huguenot immigration to Virginia contains lists of refugees and emigrants and several passenger lists, the longest and most valuable of which is a record of baptisms at Manakin-Town, 1721-1754, which gives the names of godparents (usually relatives) and other genealogical data.  Was $30.00, Now $17.50!

Memorials of Huguenots in America. With Special Reference to Their Emigration to Pennsylvania. Genealogists with Huguenot or Pennsylvania ancestors should consult this work because it examines the hitherto overlooked role of the Huguenots in the great Palatine exodus to Pennsylvania. Stapleton provides exhaustive genealogical data on various emigrants and lists over 1,000 Huguenot refugees with their dates of arrival and places of residence. Was $24.00, Now $13.95!

French Colonists and Exiles in the United States. The focus of this volume, published originally in 1907, is to gather together accounts of the various French pioneers and settlements established in the United States during the latter part of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The chapter on French Louisiana, for example, recounts the arrival in 1785 of a number of French Acadians whose transit was subsidized by the King of France. This comprehensive work includes entire chapters on French soldier-settlers; the Huguenots; French travelers and their memoirs; the Bonapartes and other famous exiles; French settlements in Kentucky, Indiana, and Iowa; and so forth. Was $27.00, Now $15.95!
