This stunning example is #196 of 375.
As with the majority of the 375 P1 hypercars McLaren plans to build, chassis number 196 was first sent to the carmaker’s bespoke division to give it a totally unique finish. McLaren Special Operations was tasked with giving the British supercar a new body color dubbed “Hot Blue” with contrasting black door inserts and bare carbon fiber before the car was delivered to its new owner in Texas. With blacked out rims, the car is absolutely sublime, and this gallery courtesy of Bleasdell Autophotography presents it from all the right angles.

Lamborghini has been working to insert itself into the motorsports sector as of late with racing versions of their road-going models, the latest of which is the new Huracán GT3. After the debut of the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 takes racing a step further and sticks with FIA GT3 regulations to help refine performance technology for the brand through motorsports.
The new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 will start its racing career in 2015 in the Blancpain Endurance Series at five venues in Europe, including the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour endurance race. The new racer also ushers in a new partnership between Indonesian oil and energy petroleum company, Pertamina, and Lamborghini Squadra Corse as the official technical partner.
“With the Huracán GT3, Lamborghini Squadra Corse takes a further step forward in the development and production of a race car for this category, which is among the most prestigious and challenging in international motorsport. Lamborghini is thus for the first time directly involved in GT motorsport activities with the in-house development of this new model,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “We are proud and delighted to announce the new partnership with PERTAMINA, which will further support our motorsport activities.”

Lotus F1 Team reveals new E23 Hybrid
Read More
Lotus is keen to leave a lackluster 2014 Formula One World Championship campaign behind it and race forward towards a new era, and this is the car with which it hopes to do so.
The new E23 Hybrid is the twenty-third chassis to come from the Enstone-based team. As with the new Williams that was the first new chassis revealed for this year, the principal difference you can see is the more conventional nose to replace the twin-tusk setup of the E22, but there’s more to it than that.
For starters, it’s the first new Lotus to pack Mercedes power after the team parted ways with Renault – the manufacturer that used to own the team and which has powered every car the team has built since Benetton signed with the French automaker way back in 1995. It also packs a completely new suspension setup after the original FRIC design in the preceding E22 was banned mid-season, forcing Enstone engineers to go back to the drawing board halfway through the championship.
Word has it that, after earlier rumors suggested the team might not even make it back onto the grid, new sponsors will be added before the season gets under way in Melbourne on March 15 with the Australian Grand Prix.
To pilot the new car, Lotus has retained the same two drivers as last year in Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado. The team is hoping to perform better this season than it did the last, when it finished the constructors’ championship way down in eighth place – the same result it achieved in 2009 under Renault ownership and the worst it had performed since the Toleman days in 1983.

Ford exec reveals new F-150 Raptor packs 450 Horsepower
Read More
Between the new GT supercar, Shelby GT350R muscle car and F-150 Raptor off-roader, Ford had quite the array of performance machinery on display at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month. One thing it didn’t reveal about any of the three, however, is how much power they’d pack, but a senior executive at the Blue Oval automaker has reportedly let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the Raptor.
During a televised interview during the Rolex 24 at Daytona this past weekend, Ford’s product development chief Raj Nair is said to have revealed that the new F-150 Raptor will offer 450 horsepower. That’s pretty impressive from a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, and would put the new Raptor out ahead of the 411 hp produced by the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 in the previous SVT Raptor.
That doesn’t give us the whole picture, though, because in a vehicle this big especially, torque will play a huge factor. The outgoing Raptor offered 424 pound-feet of twist, and the existing 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine is already producing 420 lb-ft – so it seems fairly safe to assume the new Raptor will eclipse those figures as well, but we’ll have to wait for official word to find out for sure.

The Porsche 911 Targa 4 Gets the GTS Treatment

If you want a Porsche 911, there’s a variant for you, no matter what kind of driving experience you desire. There’s too many to count using your fingers and toes, and Porsche is adding to that seemingly never-ending list with the new 911 Targa 4 GTS unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
While the sheer number of model variants may seem overwhelming and almost tiresome, the 911 Targa 4 GTS is something packed with excitement. It combines the open-air versatility of the Targa and its incredibly cool opening process with a widened body, all-wheel drive, and that oh-so-special GTS performance.
To Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 Targa, the ‘GTS’ lettering will be adorning the open-air model for the first time ever. The success of the Targa model is undeniable, with about one in every eight 911s sold being a Targa. That figure is 13-percent for the current-generation and has only grown since its offering.
The new Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS features the same 430-horsepower, 325 lb-ft. 3.8-liter flat-six engine stuffed up its rear as the other GTS models along with the standard all-wheel drive system and Sport Chrono package. With the seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission, the sprint from rest to 62 mph takes only 4.3 seconds (0-60 mph 4.1 seconds) while top speed is limited to 186 mph. Also coming standard is the PASM chassis and sport exhaust system with chrome tailpipes that emits a more aggressive tone.
Visually, the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS looks more imposing and exclusive. The rear wheel arches stand out with their 22 mm extensions and 10 mm wider tires, while large black ‘911 Targa 4 GTS’ lettering is worn between the taillights. A sportier, more aggressive design is worn up front with a new opening for the auxiliary middle radiator, black intake screens, and smoked bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). Large 20-inch 911 Turbo S wheels also sport a darker shade to match the black accents, ‘Targa’ logo on the rollover protection bar, and ‘GTS’ door signatures.

The newest generation Ford Mustang is out and it’s hunting down the competition with its upgraded 5.0-liter being fed by a 2.9-liter supercharger system thanks to the Hennessey Performance HPE700 upgrade package.
With only 500 units planned, the supercharged Mustang is going to be a pretty rare sight, but one that will be welcomed – unless, of course, you’re another muscle car.
Hennessey Performance recently released the official dyno video showing what the new HPE700 performance package can really do while comparing it to the stock numbers on the dyno.

G-Power Tries their hand with the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe
Read More
Throughout its history, G-Power has been known for its ability to tune and modify BMW vehicles, specifically with the use of compressor systems. Now, they’re trying their hand at BMW’s German rival: Mercedes-Benz, specifically the AMG models. The first victim of their performance upgrades is the S 63 AMG Coupe – a two-door rocketship that’s ripe with potential.
While the first foray into the AMG lineup isn’t overly extravagant with tons of upgrades, the ones that were installed made quite a big difference compared to the factory setup.
The 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine was the beneficiary of a new G-Power Bi-Tronik 5 V1 control module. The module gathers and analyzes data prior to it being sent to the factory ECU. The system then alters variables such as boost pressure, fuel delivery, ignition timing, and more when the engine reaches the optimal driving temperature. For reliability reasons, the system will shut down the performance gain when a maximum oil temperature is reached.
In total, the G-Power Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe generates a total of 695 horsepower at 5,250 RPM and 737 lb-ft. of torque at 2,250 RPM. That’s coupled with the removal of the top speed limiter, allowing the two-door luxury coupe to reach speeds in excess of 205 mph. Models equipped with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system can reach 62 mph from rest in just 3.8 seconds with the addition of the Bi-Tronik 5 V1 module.
The other area in which G-Power focused on was the wheel fitment. The featured Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG was equipped with a new set of lightweight 21-inch G-Power Hurricane RR forged wheels that help keep rotating mass minimized at the hub. The double-spoke wheels were equipped with 265/30 R21 front and 295/30 R21 rear Michelin performance tires for added grip.
Both of the G-Power upgrades are currently available for the rear- and all-wheel drive versions of the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe. The Bi-Tronik 5 V1 module and removal of the top speed limiter is priced at 6,898 Euros while the forged wheel and tire set is priced at 9,095 Euros.

The Ferrari F12Berlinetta is a very impressive grand tourer from Maranello in its own right. It’s what a Ferrari should be – sleek and with a potent V-12 and that exclusive touch. It’s commanding and powerful, and the team at PP-Performance was able to improve upon it even more with a few simple engine upgrades.
The mighty, 6.3-liter V-12 engine sitting ahead of the driver bellows with its glorious 730 naturally-aspirated ponies right off the factory line, sending it to 62 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds. Simply put, this stallion is an impressive beast right from Maranello. PP-Performance pumped up those muscles even more thanks to some good old-fashioned engine modifications.
The 6.3-liter V-12 engine was outfitted with a new BMC Race filter to suck more air in, more efficiently than before. A new FI (Frequency Intelligent) cat-less exhaust system allows the well-fed V-12 to quickly get rid of its combusted gasses with a ferocious sound. PP-Performance’s ECU tuning specialists were able to tune and transform the management system for optimized performance, resulting in a whopping 795 horsepower and 538 lb-ft. of torque, making it quite the performer.

After the transformation, the Ferrari F12Berlinetta is capable of reaching 62 mph from rest in just 2.9 seconds and hitting 124 mph in a mere 8.0 seconds, flat! That shaves 0.2 and 0.5 ticks of the clock off the factory figures, respectively.

The Spofec Rolls Royce Wraith is an Executive Badass
Read More
The Rolls Royce Wraith is the big, super-exclusive luxury coupe that is in a league of its own with its Spirit of Ecstasy riding on the front grille. While the coupe may be geared towards luxury rather than being a dynamic sports car, the German tuners at Spofec were able to unleash the athletic character hiding under those sleek, coupe lines.
The transformation of the Spofec Rolls Royce Wraith begins with a full carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit that is designed to fit perfectly with the factory body work. The front fascia is more dramatic and imposing thanks to a new bumper with wider dual flaps that also work to optimize cooling and reduce lift. Hot air is quickly removed from the engine bay and front brakes with new stylized air extractors while new side skirts visually lower the ride height of the Wraith. At the rear, a clear-coated trunklid spoiler sits atop the trunk while a full bumper replacement sits beneath with its clean, wide lines.
Although the exterior is more striking on the Spofec Rolls Royce Wraith, it’s the tuned 6.6-liter, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine that really makes a statement. Spofec designed a new plug-and-play N-Tronic auxiliary module that alters the fuel injection and ignition mapping while also increasing the boost pressure for a wall of power. The added power can be emphasized by the stainless steel sports exhaust system that is up to 11.0 pounds lighter than the factory setup and can be paired up with an electronic sound management system that utilizes actively controlled butterfly valves to allow drivers to control the sound of the exhaust. In total, the Spofec Rolls Royce Wraith can create a whopping 717 horsepower and 727 lb-ft. of torque, allowing the big coupe to reach 62 mph in 4.2 seconds from rest. The top speed however is still electronically limited 155 mph.

Top Gear brings together LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918
Read More
Earlier this month, Top Gear released a brief video of the comparison test between three hybrid hypercars we’d all been waiting for: the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. The story was done by the print magazine and not by the television show, and the video they released was barely over half a minute long, reserving the full version for subscribers of the iPad edition.
Now the British mag has put the full video on YouTube, and while it’s still only a minute and a half long – three times the length of the previous teaser – it’s packed with electrified exotic goodness.
The test surely took some serious wrangling to put together, and though the metal (or carbon fiber, as the case may be) was apparently furnished mostly by private owners, to hear Top Gear tell it, the manufacturers – Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche – were eager and helpful in putting the showdown together. For the final conclusions, we’re afraid you’ll still have to buy the magazine, but for a rare chance to watch all these three world-beaters on the same road at the same time, you’ll want to scope out this latest video clip.

“Olympian” is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria’s Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That’s how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend’s latest episode of Head 2 Head.
The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that’s a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there’s a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft.
But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That’s not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, “One of the most incredible cars ever made,” and says, “It changes everything.” Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how.
