Time for a new gear review! Actually I’m not sure we’ve done any gear reviews before and this may be the first! Originally I was going to do a video review, it just feels dirty not typing one out using it so here we go!

Performance

The K810 is an absolute beast in terms of performance. It came pre-charged and I began using it right away and have yet to encounter a day where I run out of juice while using it intensively throughout the day. Speaking of which, its hardware bluetooth switches allow you to quickly swap between t typing on a computer, tablet, and phone which is perfect for me as I often use all three at once and it’s incredibly convenient to simply type a text message on a physical keyboard rather than fumble about with a touchscreen keyboard. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve come a long way but still have a ways to go until someone can match the speed (or accuracy) of a physical keyboard.

Actually typing on the keyboard is a joy as well. It’s totally goldilocks in that it isn’t too clicky and not too mush, but juuuust right. The backlight is also helpful not only that it looks pretty, but the included proximity sensor knows when your hands are approaching and hitting their mark and dims the lighting as needed to preserve battery power. Nice.

The K810 is an absolute beast in terms of performance.

The bluetooth tri-pairing works wonderfully and setup is a snap. Hit the connect button, hit the 1, 2, or 3 button and follow your devices instructions. Performance through a full work day was solid for me, but initially I was having some issues with my Nexus 7 repeating keystrokes from the keyboard. A little google-fu revealed the problem is actually with Android, however and can be fixed by purchasing External Keyboard Helper Pro from the Play store and choosing the option to stop repeating. It’s a little annoying but thankfully only costs a couple bucks.

Ooh, Pretty

First up, the Logitech K810 is light and tiny, but it doesn’t sacrifice quality for aestheitcs as the polished aluminum top is bold. Its chiclet-style island keys are well spaced and it even has the green LED for the Caps Lock. I’m coming at this from the position of an Apple purist who holds their hardware above all others but this absolutely meets that level of quality. It’s a handsome keyboard and while I’d have preferred a command symbol to a Windows 8 logo in the requisite OS button spot, aside from this nuance I love every bit of the K810′s looks.

Value

The Logitech K810 normally retails for around $99.99 but right now (and possibly indefinitely) Amazon is selling it for a mere $59.99 and it’s a steal at that price. I, myself had Best Buy price match Amazon and used some reward zone coupons laying around so I was able to get mine for around 40 bucks. Let’s run down that list one more time for the sake of simplicity:

Illuminated keyboard

Rechargeable battery

Island style keys

Proximity sensor to brighten illumination as needed

Instantly switchable between 3 different devices

Lightweight and pretty (like your mom)

Conclusion

The K810 is a fine keyboard and a beast of a workhorse if you’re the type of person who’s constantly glancing between multiple screens but hates taking their hands off of the keyboard. It’s especially useful for those who text a lot as well. The $99 price point IS a bit steep but you should be able to find a better deal if you hit up Amazon to buy it or look around a bit.

If you’re in the market for a lightweight keyboard with stellar battery and great flexibility, the K810 doesn’t disappoint.
