Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the latest Dragon Ball game launched earlier this year on consoles and PC in all regions,  isn’t going to be the only Dragon Ball video game released this year on consoles, as another more traditional fighting game called Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is going to be released next month in Japan exclusively on Nintendo 3DS.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is the latest entry of a long running Dragon Ball Z video game series featuring a traditional 2D fighting game experience, plenty of playable characters taken from all over the series, including more recent characters such as Super Saiyan God Goku and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku, and more. The game is quite likely going to turn out good, as it’s been developed by Arc System Works, the team behind other excellent 2D fighting games such as the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series, the two Persona 4: Arena games and many others.

Some new details on Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden have emerged online recently thanks to the latest issue of Shonen Jump magazine. The Japanese magazine has revealed that not all playable and assist characters will be available at the beginning of the game, as they will be unlocked by completing the several different missions included in Adventure Mode. The magazine has also confirmed that players will be able to create their own teams made up of playable and assist characters easily thanks to a touch screen interface that will make the process rather smooth.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden will be released in Japan on June 11th exclusively on Nintendo 3DS. A Western release has yet to be confirmed at the time but we will keep you updated on the matter as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest news on the new Dragon Ball Z video game.
