This is Crowdsourcing Weekends!  This post highlights three different crowdsourcing projects I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Simply Good Tea

The good things in life should be simple & affordable, and tea is no exception.  When Jake Reznick lived in China, drinking tea became an essential part of his daily routine.  While his obsession began in order to fulfill a caffeine addiction, exploring the world of tea soon became an adventure unto itself.  He quickly found himself hiking through tea plantations, reading books on tea, and sharing cup after cup with farmers and fellow tea addicts.  He was hooked.  The tea he was drinking not only tasted great, but it kept him alert all day without the jitters or crashes associated with coffee.  Better yet, premium loose leaf tea can be re-steeped all day long, unlike a tea bag.  He founded Simply Good Tea for tea lovers like himself who are sick of compromise.  Their tea is both a daily staple and a culinary adventure, a productivity boost and a sip-by-sip escape from whatever is clouding your mind.  They’re thrilled you’ve found them and are excited for you to join them.

Simply Good Tea is a subscription service designed to support a daily tea drinking lifestyle that combines the convenience of tea bags, K-cups, or stops at your coffee shop with the affordability and quality of buying loose tea in bulk.  You start with the Simply Good Bottle, then each month you will receive 30 pre-measured packets of premium loose leaf tea. Simply grab a packet, empty it into your bottle, add hot water and you’re good to go!  By working directly with farmers, they ensure our tea is not only top quality but also extremely fresh!  There are so many amazing varieties and flavors of tea that they are excited to introduce you to – the picture below is just a small sampling of what you’ll receive from Simply Good Tea!

As of February 23rd, this project has raised around $16,670 of their $8,000 goal.   This project only has 27 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $60, you will get a Simply Good Tea bottle and a month’s supply of great tea!  For a pledge of $175, you will get a six month subscription to Simply Good Tea with the Simply Good Tea bottle.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/simply-good-tea

Mini Museum

The mini museum is a portable collection of curiosities where every item is authentic, iconic and labeled.  It’s been carefully designed to take you on a journey of learning and exploration.  The idea is simple.  For the past 35 years Hans Fex has collected amazing specimens specifically for this project.  He then carefully break those specimens down into smaller pieces, embed them in resin, and you end up with an epic museum in a manageable space.  Each mini museum is a handcrafted, individually numbered limited edition.  And If you consider the age of some of these specimens – it’s been billions of years in the making.  The majority of these specimens were acquired directly from contacting specialists recommended to him by museum curators, research scientists and university historians.

The Universe is amazing.  He really wanted to remind people of that with this collection. How awesome would it be to own a group of rare meteorites, dinosaur fossils and relics of some of the most talked about places and events in human history?  All in the palm of your hand?  The mini museum is a portable learning tool, a smart and rare ice breaker, and a wonderful piece of historical art.  Great for folks aged 7 to 122 and completely safe and non toxic.  Each mini museum is handcrafted and carefully encased in resin and ready to inspire you.  Display it on your desktop, mantle, or coffee table.  Or carry it in your pocket – mini museum can go wherever you go.  It also makes a beautiful gift for the person that has everything.  The Universe is amazing and realizing this collection has been one of the biggest accomplishments of his life.

As of February 23rd, this project has raised around $352,700 of their $38,000 goal.   This project only has 24 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $99, you will get the small mini museum containing 11 specimens.  For a pledge of $179, you will get the medium mini museum containing 22 specimens.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2054592112/mini-museum

Jenny’s Wedding

Jenny Farrell (Katherine Heigl) has led an openly gay life – except with her conventional family.  When she finally decides to start a family and marry the woman they thought was just her roommate, the small, safe world the Farrell’s inhabited changes forever.  They are left with a simple and difficult choice – either change with it or drown.  Last November, MM Productions completed principal photography on the film “Jenny’s Wedding” and they are currently in post production.  Made independently, this film is the kind of movie the studios used to make all the time.  It is about real people, the problems they face, and the personal courage it takes to resolve them.  It is also about transformation and love.  Both moving and funny, it has an important message to send, and their goal is to ensure it reaches a wide audience.

The movie will star Katherine Heigl, Tom Wilkinson, Linda Emond, Grace Gummer, Alexis Bledel, and others!  The movie is directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue.  Rewards include everything from downloads of exclusive digital content, to DVD and Blu-Rays, Signed Limited Edition Posters, Signed Screenplays, Signed Production Stills, and Signed Wedding Albums featuring all the photos from Jenny’s Wedding!  Also included is an advanced screening and the wedding dress used in the film!

As of February 23rd, this project has raised around $30,437 of their $150,000 goal.   This project only has 33 days left to raise the $150,000 or it might not be funded!  For a pledge of $20, you will get a hi-res Download of the Poster for Jenny’s Wedding, a Download of our exclusive Behind the Scenes Video of the Making of “Jenny’s Wedding”, Behind the Scenes Photos and a PDF of the screenplay.  For a pledge of $30, you will get a Digital Download of the Feature Film “Jenny’s Wedding” when it is released on Home Video.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-the-filmmakers-of-katherine-heigl-s-new-movie-jenny-s-wedding
