GATE (Graduate aptitude test in engineering) is a national level examination conducted every year to test the candidates’ comprehensive understanding in different undergraduate subjects in streams like engineering, technology and Architecture and also post graduate subjects in science. GATE score can be used for admission in PG programs like M.Tech, M.E and direct Ph.D in the Indian institutes of higher education along with financial assistance offered by MHRD and many other government agencies.
GATE 2015 Result Analysis

As the numbers of ECE applicants for GATE 2015 are higher, the test for ECE was conducted in three sessions started from January 31, 2015 (both morning and noon session) and taken place during the first few weeks of January. From engineering mathematics, the topics covered were probability, calculus, numerical theory, algebra and transform theory to name a few. Candidates who have appeared for ECE paper have indicated that the number of numerical questions have increased while compared to the previous year as the ration of multiple choice questions and numerical questions for GATE 2015 seems to be 60:40. This refers that the candidates needed to time their paper so that the calculations can be done faster for numerical based questions. From the GATE result analysis of ECE paper, it was found that the examination was comparatively difficult to last year with many trickier questions checking the basic knowledge of the candidates. This year, questions covered every topic mentioned in GATE syllabus with some topics being appeared for the first time. Some of the new topics that are covered in GATE 2015 include DFT in signals and systems, semiconductor memories in Digital, lifetime of carriers in EDC, GSM in communications, etc. No changes were made in the pattern or direction of exam compared to previous year. In mathematics, questions were asked from solution of linear equations, complex variables, mean value theorem, plotting graph of exponential equation and from differential equations.

The qualified candidates will be provided a score card that will be valid for three years from now.
