Larry Johnson named interim head coach; national search begins immediately for Penn State’s 16th head coach
UNIVERSITY PARK – Bill O’Brien has informed Penn State that he is leaving Penn State to become the head coach of the National Football League’s Houston Texans.
A national search will begin immediately to select Penn State’s 16th head football coach, according to Dave Joyner, director of athletics. Joyner said long-time defensive line coach Larry Johnson will serve as interim head coach while the search is under way.
PennDOT Outlines Winter Storm Strategies Ahead of Possible Storms
HARRISBURG – With possible winter storms forecast in the days and weeks ahead, PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch today explained that while crews will work around the clock as needed, roads will not be free of ice and snow while precipitation is falling.
NWS Issues Winter Weather, Wind Chill Advisories
STATE COLLEGE – The National Weather Service in State College has advised that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight. Additionally, the NWS has advised that a Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. tonight until 12 p.m. Friday in the northwest mountains.
The NWS anticipates hazardous types of snow and dangerous wind chills. Snow accumulations, the NWS stated, will be an additional three to four inches today and another one to two inches early tonight with storm totals being six to nine inches.

HOUTZDALE – A 48-year-old Lanse man accused of assaulting a state constable had all charges held for court after a preliminary hearing during a special session of Centralized Court on Monday afternoon. Rusty Alan Maines, 48, of Lanse has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.

WJAC-TV: Corbett Ending Bid to Privatize PA Lottery

HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Corbett announced Monday that he was ending his efforts to privatize the Pennsylvania Lottery.
Corbett said in a release that the commonwealth will not continue to pursue the Lottery Private Management Agreement with Camelot Global LLC, a British firm. The initial deal to privatize the lottery through Camelot was first reached in April of 2012.
