The Best Zombie Survival Games to play in 2016 What are the best zombie survival games in 2016? Whether your looking for some upfront zombie killing fun or are more of a survival simulator person, we have you covered! Are you Hoping for that zombie game of your dreams which you may have just slipped under the radar? Well that is unlikely, but you may just uncover a few gems you didn’t know existed! 1.) DayZ Standalone If you are searching for zombie games in 2016 and haven’t heard of DayZ, where have you been?! DayZ is the heavyweight in the zombie genre and has been a global success since launching originally as a mod for Arma 2 several years before making its way onto Steam’s Early Access as a standalone game. DayZ is a gritty, harsh and realistic simulator at heart as players must take care of themselves from eating and drinking to staying warm and healthy all in an apocalyptic world where zombies and players alike lurk around every corner. The standalone has been hitting its stride in recent months and now includes vehicles as well as extensive crafting, weapon customization and an advanced medical system. If your looking for a realistic survival simulator set in the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse, then look no further than DayZ Check out DayZ here.  2.) H1Z1 H1Z1 is one of the best zombie survival games currently available to buy, despite only being in Early Access on Steam sine January 2015. Originally developed by SOE, now Daybreak Games, H1Z1 will have you fully immersed and hooked for hours upon hours. H1Z1 has everything you’d expect from a zombie survival MMO including a fantastic and extensive crafting system, allowing players to craft a wide variety of items and build their bases. While it isn’t as much of a hardcore simulator as DayZ, the game is more fun with an arcadey feel to it. This isn’t a bad thing and makes for a fun experience. If you enjoy the gunplay and want some straight up PvP action rather than having to scour town after town for a survivor to have a gunfight with, H1Z1 comes with its hugely popular Battle Royale mode giving players the opportunity for some good old gun fights when things get dull Check out H1Z1 here. 3.) Dead State: Reanimated When it comes to zombie games, you will struggle to find a strategy game within the genre, however if you are indeed in the mood for leading a bunch of survivors through the apocalypse, managing your supplies and base all in a turn-based, strategic manner, then look no further than Dead State. Set in central texas during the zombie apocalypse, you must lead a band of survivors and ensure their survival by managing food and supplies, fortifying your shelter, defending against, or attacking other human factions. Sounds good right? Not only that, but the game has recently had a huge updated making it even better than before, including the addition of a whole host of new features such as alarms, smarter AI, improved combat, more areas to explore and a new hardcore mode where combat becomes more dangerous, allies consume more resources and heal more slowly, and morale is harder to keep up. Turn on Hardcore, Iron Man, and PC Infection for the ultimate challenge!! Check out the website for more information and news! 4.) 7 Days to Die 7 Days to Die is a game which has been around for a while now. With the alpha releasing in the summer of 2013, 7DTD is still in Early Access but continually being updated and has improved ten-fold, leading to it becoming one of the best zombie survival games you can purchase in our opinion. The game allows you to survive solo, creating your own world and giving you the option to adjust a variety of different options. Alternatively, you can head online and join other people’s servers for some teamwork or PvP action. What makes 7 Days to Die unique is its fully destructible, voxel-based world allowing you to build shelter and bases and manipulate the world around in a manner familiar to anyone who has played Minecraft. However this is no Minecraft clone! Personally, I would consider 7 Days to Die to be the best zombies survival game currently in Early Access, especially given the recent overhaul to the whole game. Check out the website at www.7daystodie.com 5.) State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition State of Decay has been on the zombie scene since launching as an Xbox Live arcade game way back in 2013, and it is still going strong! Following a very successful PC launch and two excellent DLC additions, State of Decay is now available in the Year One Survival Edition marking the games release on Xbox One and celebrating a year of being on Steam. If you haven’t purchased State of Decay, ever, then its a no-brainer as unlike the undead, you still have one! State of Decay is one of the most complete and fun zombie games available, dumping you in a sandbox open-world during a zombie apocalypse, you must find shelter and survivors as you and your group try to survive. If you have bought State of Decay before, the Year One Survival Edition comes bundled with all previous DLC as well as new features and improvements not available in the standard version. It may look like a cheap attempt to gain more money and sales and if you have all the DLC previously, you will have to decide if the upgrade is worth the addition money, although owners of State of Decay get a 33% discount. You can’t purchase State of Decay on Steam anymore, only the remastered Year One survival edition. 6.) Lifeless Lifeless is a game you probably haven’t heard about, but that is about to change! Lifeless is a game I have had my eye on for some time and one I am excited for. In short, Lifeless is a multiplayer FPS zombie survival game where you must to whatever it takes to survive in a vast and dangerous world. Lifeless stands out for its focus on intelligent gameplay, with players having to make smart and tough choices to stay alive, whether that is working with other players, or against them which impacts the whole world, from other players to NPCs. Zombies are also intelligent and challenging, keeping you on your toes. As well as character progression, a dynamic environment with a fully-featured tide system, factions, world events and an immersive story, you should certainly check out Lifeless! Lifeless is undergoing some rapid changes ahead of its huge update for December which will take the game to a whole new level. It is currently available to purchase in Alpha, you can find out more information here. 7.) Survivalist If your still unsure of any of the games above and want something cheap which will give you hours of fun, then we suggest checking out Survivalist. A steal at £3.99 on Steam, or cheaper via G2A.com, Survivalist is a huge open-world RPG set one year after the apocalypse as hit. Survivalist gives you the freedom to play how you want in the zombie apocalypse. Players must scavenge for supplies, look for other survivors and build a community. From there, you can trade, plant crops, declare war on other factions and just do whatever it is you want! When it comes to combat, you can directly control a character or issue commands to any one of your survivors. Oh and it is also on Xbox Live if you want to play it on your Xbox 360.
