The Android apps free for downloading today includes news that a new Opera app in development reduces data usage for Android users, according to a Dec. 18 report in TechHive.
“Max” reduces data usage by popular apps like Google Play Store, Chrome and Instagram by directing non-encrypted data to its servers—where it will be compressed and optimized to use less data—then forwarded to the intended recipients. “Max” is preparing for beta testing now as Opera begins looking for beta testers in the United States who are using smartphones running “Ice Cream Sandwich” (Android 4.0) or higher.
Trending popular today is “Swell Floop”, a free puzzle game where players must clear the screen of cubes in the fewest moves. As cubes are destroyed, other cubes take their places. This Android app’s five levels range from easy to hard.
Another free Android game app trending popular today is “Paramon”, a multiplayer Collectable Card Game (CCG) about training monsters for combat. You start out as an inexperienced monster trainer and work towards becoming the best monster combat trainer in the world. Besides the two hundred different monsters waiting to be captured, dazzling visuals and automated combat scenes, there are daily Boss fights for awesome rewards.
Trending hot also is “Funny Snowman Live Wallpaper”, a cool, free live wallpaper app which decorates your Android smartphone or tablet for the holiday season. This app not only gives you beautiful winter scenes with cute and funny snowman, but it also give you options for speeding up the falling snow or turning off the falling snow.
“Tiny Defense” is trending hot today too. In this free Android game app, toys have come alive (as in the Disney film “Toy Story”). It is your job as commander of the Mighty Super Iron Toy Army to destroy the enemy toy army in more than 100 challenges. Players build their own army and choose its weapons.
Just in time for the holidays, the Amazon Appstore for Android (Reg. $2.99) is giving away for free “Allrecipes Dinner Spinner Pro”. This Android app helps you find top-rated recipes plus saves your recipes in a “Recipe Box”. After you select which recipes you want to use, this free app automatically creates a shopping list for you. You can also share your recipes with Facebook and Twitter friends.
