In 2010, during his time at Chalmers University of Technology, he registered his PewDiePie YouTube account. The following year he dropped out of Chalmers to focus on his YouTube channel, working at a hot dog stand to fund his videos. PewDiePie soon gathered a rapidly increasing online following, and in 2012, his channel surpassed one million subscribers. Since August 2013, PewDiePie has been the most subscribed user on YouTube. The channel was originally built on Halo and Modern Warfare 2 let’s play videos, but came to prominence with the release of the Call of Duty: Black Ops “zombies” mode and his subsequent videos featuring the gamemode on his channel, and further grew due to the series “The Minecraft Project”. It was Black Ops, however, which caused his channel to explode. At the time, it was uncommon to reach Round 20 solo on the Zombies game mode. Once WarZ (aka ‘Infestation: Survivor Stories’) got released, he got playing the game at the right time and his channel grew into the channel where you see him now. He became a competitive CS: GO player on ESEA (playing on Invite teams) and FPL (playing against the US CS: GO Pros). Before streaming professionally or taking streaming seriously as a Full Time job. Before streaming took off, Jaryd worked as a call representative for Time Warner Cable.

Lirik started streaming 2011 on Twitch with World of Warcraft but started streaming on a regular basis since March 2012 when DayZ came out. More of a variety streamer these days, the charismatic man with no cam entertains the masses on a daily basis.
