Open world survival game Conan Exiles sold 320,000 copies in its first week on Steam Early Access, completely recouping all development costs and pulling developer Funcom out of a rut.

The Norwegian studio has been hungry for a hit for some time, with MMOs Age of Conan, The Secret World, and Lego Minifigures Online all failing to meet expectations.

“Funcom has gone through some challenging times in recent years and seeing the game we have poured so much time and effort into gain this amount of traction so quickly is very invigorating for everyone who works here," said Funcom CEO Rui Casais.
