Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway East T.D. is calling for the reversal of funding cuts to the School Completion Programme in DEIS schools.
Deputy Micheál Kitt says a Government decision to cut the programmes funding by almost 7 percent will affect 36 thousand children across 700 schools nationwide.
The Fianna Fáil Deputy says that the intervention programme is a vital support to those at risk of educational disadvantage.
Deputy Kitt is calling on Children’s Minister James Reilly to ring-fence funds to ensure the programme receives the necessary funding.
