BROWNELLA COTTAGE TOURS — It is decorated for the holidays, and will be open for tours Saturday, Dec.10, from 5-7 p.m. The cottage has been beautifully decorated for the holiday season, along with the Historic Grace Church, the study and the Carriage House Museum. We will host a food drive with the donations going to Cooperative Christian Services food ban. For every non-perishable food item donated to Cooperative Christian Services on Sunday, you will get a $1 off the cost of admission. The cottage is at 130 W. Walnut St. in Galion, with parking at the Historic Grace Church. For information, call 419-468-9338.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AND FOOD DRIVE — 5-7 p.m., Brownella Cottage, West Walnut at South Union streets. Food drive benefiting Cooperative Christian Services of Galion. For every non-perishable food item brought, receive $1 off admission. $5 for adults, $3 for children 5-17.

YOUNG AT HEART ANNUAL COOKIE WALK AND LUNCHEON — Galion Baptist Church, 5670 Ohio 19, will have its Cookie Walk and Luncheon from 11 a.m-2 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Family Life Center of the church. All proceeds go to the ministries of the church.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE —2-4 p.m., The Gill House, 342 Harding Way West, featuring tours, food, music, and more. No admission charge, donations accepted.

Dec. 12

GALION HIGH SCHOOL BAND, CHOIR CONCERT — 7:30 p.m., Galion High School gymnasium.

RECYCLING — 9-11 a.m. Dallas Township Firehouse; 9 a.m. to noon. Lowe-Volk Park Parking Lot.

BOARD OF ELECTIONS MEETING — The Crawford County Board of Elections will meet Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. to conduct regular business and the general election audit in the board office, 112 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus.

Dec. 14

CITY OF GALION PARK FORUMS — The city is planning three public forums to gather public feedback for future planning of city-owned parks.The other programs were Dec. 5 (East, Cobey parks) and Dec. 8 (Amann/Amick Reservoirs, South Park) All forums will be held in council chambers on the second floor of the municipal building. The Dec. 14 program will include discussion about Heise Park at 6:30 p.m. and Peco Park at 7:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend in order to provide feedback.

FORMER OSU BAND DIRECTOR AT PRAYER BREAKFAST — Jonathan Waters, former marching band director at The Ohio State University Marching will be featured speaker at an interdenominational men’s prayer breakfast 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 in the cafeteria at Bucyrus Community Hospital. This prayer breakfast is open to all men and woman and is being hosted by Woodlawn United Methodist Church. For information, call Bill Denton at 419 562-1118.

GALION SAFETY COUNCIL MEETING — The next meeting is Dec. 15, from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the Galion Moose (back room,use the southwest door. The program is about “Ohio EPA-DEFA’s Technical and Financial Resources for Businesses and Communities.” The speaker will be Alauddin A. Alauddin, Assistant Chief, Outreach and Customer Support. FREE COMMUNITY MEAL — Trinity Lutheran Church, 291 N. Union St., Galion will serve a free community meal Dec. 15 from 5:-6 p.m.

FROM CITIZEN PATRIOT — group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Galion Pizza Hut, 820 Harding Way West . There is an optional social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. The focus will be on “Christmas in America.”All are welcome. Please bring items for donation to local food pantries. FOOD PANTRY —St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry St., Galion, will open their food pantry from 9 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 17. It is open on the third Saturday of each month. For Galion residents only-please bring a photo ID and proof of residency (phone, utility bill etc.).

KIDS CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND PARTY — Santa arriving at 2 p.m. at American Legion, 118 S. Market St.

Sign up sheet is now available at the club. Members kids/grandkids ages 0-12 are welcome to sign up.

BINGO FOR BOOKS — On Tuesday, Dec.20th, Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St., Galion, brings back this favorite event. It is from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room. If you are age 18 or older, come play for your chance to win free copies of fiction and non-fiction books. Holiday cookies and punch will be provided. This event is free, but registration is required since space is limited. Call the library at 419-468-3203 or stop by the Main Desk to sign-up.
