REPUBLICAN BBQ — The Crawford County Republican Barbeque is Sept. 24, at the Crawford County Conservation League, 3477 Ohio 98, Bucyrus. Dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. with the auction, hosted by Craig Miley, beginning at 6 p.m. Pulled pork or chicken breast, potato salad, baked beans, fresh vegetables, desserts and beverage. Carry-out is available.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and may be obtained from any member of the Republican Central Committee, Crawford County Republican Women and will also be available at the door. Donations for the auction are always welcome. All ticket proceeds will be contributed to the Crawford County Republican Women to support local candidates.

AUTHOR EVENT — Local author, Noel Lizotte, has a newly released cookbook focused completely on healthy homemade dog treats. Join us Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St. for a book signing and dog treat making demonstration.

DINNER THEATER —Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library will present a a dinner theater “Murder on the Petulant Express” at the Elks Lodge, 309 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Dinner, catered by Gary Auck of Carle’s Market, begins at 6 p.m. There will be a silent auction and a raffle. Tickets are $25 at the desk of the library, by calling 419-562-7327, ext. 102 or by contacting a Friends of the Public Library board member.

BOATING SAFETY/BEGINNER CANOEING COURSE — Sunday, Sept. 25 3 p.m. on Neff Reservoir SR , on Ohio 98, This program, offered by the Crawford Park District, will begin with a boating safety lesson, followed by a canoe float around the reservoir. Registration is required by Sept. 24 at 419-683-9000. The program is being funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft.

GALION CHAMBER MANUFACTURING BREAKFAST — The 2016 Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing Recognition Breakfast is Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 a.m. at the Polk Township building, 7980 Ohio 309, in Galion.
