Getting There

Cabo San Lucas & San José del Cabo is served by Los Cabos International Airport. It is situated outside of San Jose del Cabo and will take approximately 30-45 minutes to travel to Cabo San Lucas.

Getting around

There are many car rental agencies in Los Cabos. If you are staying in a villa or plan on many day-trips, then a rental will likely be a more cost-effective option. However, you should rent a car only if you are experienced in Mexican driving or fluent in Spanish. There are no set rates in Cabo San Lucas.

The public bus is very cheap and runs all day along the main highway from Cabo San Lucas to San Jose and back from about 5:00am to about 9:00pm.

The fare is 16 pesos (about $1.40) to go from San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas or vice-versa

Interesting Facts

Famously known as the Stripped Marlin capital of the world, cabo hosts the biggest fishing tournaments. Bisbee’s black & Blue marlin fishing tournament with a 4 million dollar prize.

Most vendors use a 10 peso to 1 dollar exchange rate which is higher than the actual exchange rate- 12 pesos to 1 dollar.

The water can be rough for swimming at some Los Cabos beaches. The Pacific Ocean has strong under flow that has caused many accidents and deaths. Safe swimming areas include Medano Beach, Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Bay and Playa Palmilla.

Mexican nationals consider it rude to throw your change card on the table instead of handling it directly to the person.

Whale watching runs from mid November end to the end of March. It is best in January- March when the grey whales make their 6000 mile migration from Alaska to the warm waters of Baja California Sur.
