01/11/13 Future plc, the award-winning international media group and leading digital business, has won Gold at the 2013 Digital Impact Awards for its 2012 Annual Report app.
The Annual Report app was created using FutureFolio, the interactive tablet magazine and brochure creation software business from Future.
The Digital Impact Awards sets the industry-wide benchmark in digital communications, and have done so since 2009. Launched by Communicate magazine, the awards are the biggest European celebration of digital stakeholder engagement. Last night’s ceremony, at The Brewery in London, was hosted by BBC Science correspondent, Steve Mould, and honoured the best digital work this year.
Entries were scrutinised by a panel of 30 judges whose insights allowed only the most successful projects to take home awards, setting a true standard for excellence. The process distinguished the most effective, integrated and creative campaigns for receipt of a coveted Digital Impact Award. Of the 112 shortlisted campaigns, only 33 were chosen to take home a gold award, 25 received silver and 26 nabbed a bronze.
Chris Taylor, Future’s Director of Communications, says: “To create Future’s Annual Report as an interactive app using FutureFolio was the obvious choice for me to make. I wanted to bring the Future story to life for investors in a way that created a showcase taster of what the software could do for potential corporate clients. To pick up the Gold Award at the Digital Impact Awards first time round the block is testament to the flexibility of the software and the fantastic creative team at Future. It also sets an industry standard for PR professionals and maintains the momentum of Future’s transition towards becoming a predominantly digital business.”
Andrew Thomas, publishing editor of Communicate magazine says: “This is the fourth year for the Digital Impact Awards and the change from then until now is immense. No longer are digital channels or platforms included in a campaign because they are the new, shiny thing. They are employed because they are the right thing. And each year the benchmark of creativity, strategy and implementation that defines Digital Impact Awards winners gets higher.”
Success at the awards further demonstrates Future’s excellence in digital stakeholder communications. Future has been named Consumer Digital Publisher of the Year for three years in a row by the Association of Online Publishers (2011, 2012, 2013) and has been named the Professional Publishers Association Digital Publisher of the Year for two consecutive years (2012, 2013). Future is also the British Media Awards Media Company of the Year. Future produces over 100 digital editions and has sold over five million digital copies.
Future’s Annual Report app was also shortlisted for this year’s Digital Communications Awards. The Jamie Magazine app, powered by Folio, recently won a 2013 Lovie, as well as being named in Apple’s Apps of 2012. And the FutureFolio team was also commended at this year’s PPA Awards in the Development Team of the Year category.
