Meetings are where productivity goes to die. We hop on our hamster wheel and run from meeting to meeting, getting little to nothing accomplished for our time invested. It’s an unsustainable business practice that sucks joy out of the workplace.

In this episode of Work That Matters, I talk with two of my favorite thinkers in the space of organizational behavior – Dick and Emily Axelrod.

Their latest book, Let’s Stop Meeting Like This: Tools to Save Time and Get More Done, is practical and incredibly useful.

Dick and Emily deliver needed insight in a time where we are overwhelmed and struggle to feel good about what we accomplish in a day. If you’re someone who spends a great deal of your day in meetings, then this interview and the book are essential.

Interview highlights

• Where to begin to make meetings more effective (see the canoe below)

• Tools to help save time and get more done

• How to use your leadership power for good

• Why you should tap into the power of connection for your meetings

• Who ultimately is responsible for a bad meeting
